Product information "Kern OZL 961 Stereomicroscope Set, Binocular, 0.7x-4.5x, Telescopic Arm Stand, LED Ring Light"
The Kern OZL 961 is a ready-assembled stereomicroscope set for the workplace. It comprises a binocular stereomicroscope head with a zoom range of 0.7x to 4.5x, a universal stand with a telescopic arm and stage, a specimen holder, an LED ring light and a dust cover. According to Kern, the telescopic arm is particularly suitable for large specimens and for working freely under the microscope.
Set configuration
Kern has pre-combined the components from its own range to save you the trouble of configuring the set and selecting the appropriate individual parts. The holder for the head has a diameter of 76 mm. Kern supplies the universal stand with telescopic arm and base plate. The set measures 700 x 255 x 600 mm (W x D x H) and has a net weight of 17 kg.
Optics and field of view
The zoom is continuously adjustable from 0.7x to 4.5x; with the standard HWF-10x eyepieces (20 mm field of view, high eye point), this results in a total magnification of 7x to 45x. The field of view measures 28.6 mm at the lowest magnification and 4.4 mm at the highest. The working distance is 100 mm; specimens may be up to 140 mm high, and the maximum resolution is 0.0037 mm. The tube is inclined at 45 degrees and can be rotated; the interpupillary distance ranges from 55 to 75 mm, and the dioptre adjustment operates on both sides. Focusing is achieved via a coarse focus knob.
Ring light
Illumination is provided by a 4.5-watt LED ring light using reflected light. The light is dimmable. A transmitted light option is not included in the set. Those wishing to examine transmitted-light specimens are better served by the OZL 463 or OZL 466 column models, which feature 3 W each for reflected light and transmitted light. The power supply is built-in; connection is via a Schuko plug, and the protection class is II.
When this set is the right choice
This set is designed for workstations handling large specimens where free space beneath the head is essential, and for anyone who wants a pre-configured reflected light unit without having to select individual components. For transmitted light and higher magnifications up to 50x, the OZL 456 or the column models are more suitable. A camera cannot be connected to the binocular head via a tube outlet.
Accessories for the set
Kern supplies the OZL 961 with eyepieces offering 15x, 20x and 25x, as well as a 10x eyepiece with a scale (0.1 mm), attachment lenses with 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.5x and 2x magnification, a soldering protection lens and a mains adaptor set. The dust cover is already included in the set.
Typical applications
Kern cites training centres, workshops and assembly and repair workstations, for example, in the electronics industry, as typical applications for the OZL 961. According to Kern, the telescopic arm stand is particularly suitable for large specimens and for working freely under the microscope.
