Kern OZM 913 stereo microscope set, trinocular, telescopic arm with base plate, zoom 0.7x to 4.5x, LED ring light

On the Kern OZM 913, the stereo microscope sits on a telescopic arm with base plate. The set is trinocular, features a 4.5 W LED ring light and a zoom head ranging from 0.7x to 4.5x. At approx. 26 kg net, it weighs more than twice as much as the OZM 952 and OZM 953 sets with articulating arm and clamp, which should be considered when choosing the location. The head, universal stand, holder, ring light and dust cover are included.

Telescopic arm with base plate

The universal stand features a telescopic arm and a base plate. The mounting diameter on the universal stand is 37 mm; the microscope head is accommodated with 76 mm. Focusing is achieved via the coarse focus. The data sheet specifies a net weight of 26 kg and a gross weight of 28 kg. The packaging measures 700 x 520 x 350 mm.

Trinocular zoom head

The head is trinocular, inclined at 45° and rotatable through 360°; the beam splitter ratio is specified as 0:100. The Greenough system zooms from 0.7x to 4.5x (ratio 6.4:1). With the HSWF-10x eyepieces, this gives a magnification range of 7x to 45x. Working distance 110 mm, sample height up to 130 mm, interpupillary distance 52 to 76 mm, dioptre adjustment on both sides from minus 6 to plus 6.

Connecting a camera

A C-Mount adapter is required to connect a camera; this is not included in the scope of delivery. According to Kern, adapters with 0.3x, 0.5x and 1x magnification are suitable, as are the ODC 825, 832, 852 and 854 microscope cameras. According to Kern, the ODC 241 tablet camera cannot be used with the OZM-9 series. If you require a set with a tablet camera, the OZL 464T241 is the alternative. If you need transmitted light, you will find it in the OZL 466.

Telescopic arm compared to the other sets

The OZM 913 has a telescopic arm with base plate and, at approx. 26 kg, weighs more than twice as much as the OZM 953 with an articulating arm and clamp (approx. 11 kg). Both have a trinocular head, the same zoom and the same ring light. The OZM 983 with a spring-loaded articulating arm weighs approx. 6 kg. The OZM 932 and OZM 933 sets, with a double arm and base plate, weigh approx. 28 kg.

According to Kern, the main areas of application for the OZM 9 series are in vitro fertilisation, detection of parasites, zoology and botany, tissue preparation, dissection, quality control, LCD/LED electronics, semiconductor technology, and assembly and repair.
