LAUDA Puridest PD 12 R Single-column Distillation Unit, 12 L/h, 24-litre Storage Tank, L003016

With a capacity of 12 l of distillate per hour, the LAUDA Puridest PD 12 R is the most powerful model in the Mono series; the distillate is stored in a built-in 24-litre tank. Here too, the conductivity is 2.3 µS/cm at 25 °C, which is pure enough for reagent dilution and sample preparation in accordance with DAB regulations and international pharmacopoeia standards. As its output is significantly higher than that of the PD 8 R, the PD 12 R requires the same three-phase power supply, but also the highest cooling water flow rate in the entire range.

24-litre storage tank for high continuous demand

The 24-litre tank is sufficient for laboratories with a consistently high demand for water, for example when several autoclaves or workstations are being supplied simultaneously, as the supply here also covers twice the hourly output. Water is dispensed via a tap with a continuous or momentary setting, whilst an electronic level sensor in the background controls replenishment. The condenser is part of the storage tank and can be replaced if necessary; a solenoid valve regulates the water supply.

Three-phase connection and cooling water requirements

Like the PD 8 R, the PD 12 R is connected via a red, five-pin CEE plug in accordance with IEC 60309, rated at 16 amps at 400 volts three-phase current. The heating power increases to a maximum of 9 kilowatts; accordingly, the cooling water requirement is also higher at 3.3 l per minute, the highest figure in the Puridest Mono series. On the pressure side, the same limits apply as for the PD 8 R: 3 to 7 bar, with a 1/2-inch inlet and a 3/4-inch drain.

Robustly built for continuous operation

The PD 12 R has a net weight of 40 kilograms and a packed weight of 47.36 kilograms, with a footprint of 780 x 410 millimetres, which is exactly the same as that of the PD 8 R. Only the height of the housing increases to 670 millimetres, as the larger storage tank requires more space. The tubular heating elements, distillation flask, storage tank and condenser are made of stainless steel, whilst the double-walled housing is made of galvanised, powder-coated sheet steel. A built-in sensor system also detects contamination in the distillation flask and stops the distillation process before water quality is compromised.

Which Puridest model is suitable

If a smaller supply is sufficient, the Puridest PD 8 R delivers 8 l per hour with a 16-litre storage tank and lower cooling water consumption; the Puridest PD 4 R is sufficient for 4 l per hour and can be powered from a standard Schuko socket. If a higher purity is required instead of a single-distillate, the Puridest PD 4 D and the Puridest PD 4 DG feature an additional double-distillation stage.

For the PD 12 R, wall brackets, cooling water hoses, connection fittings and spare parts such as condensers or distillation flasks may be required. LT Laborhandel will, on request, compile the appropriate accessories and spare parts for the respective Puridest model, including for upgrading to a smaller model or a version with bi-distillation.
