LAUDA Puridest PD 4 DG Glass Double-Distillation Unit, 4 L/h, Conductivity 1.6 µS/cm, L003024

Product information "LAUDA Puridest PD 4 DG Glass Double-Distillation Unit, 4 L/h, Conductivity 1.6 µS/cm, L003024"

Anyone wishing to combine the advantages of glass distillation, namely the visible process and the absence of stainless steel in the water path, with a lower conductivity will find the Puridest PD 4 DG to be the suitable version. This bi-distillation unit features both distillation stages constructed entirely from Duran borosilicate glass 3.3, thereby achieving a conductivity of 1.6 µS/cm at a rate of 4 litres of bi-distillate per hour. The heating elements are sheathed in quartz glass.

Two distillation stages made entirely of glass

Unlike the PD 4 D, which uses stainless steel in the first stage, the entire water path in the PD 4 DG runs through glass. Raw water is fed into the first distillation flask via a solenoid valve, where it is heated and condensed in a drip-proof condenser section before the second stage further reduces the conductivity. A CO₂ degassing port on the condenser and an electronic contamination monitor, which automatically triggers a water change for cleaning, ensure low-maintenance operation. Sterilisation is achieved by steaming the condenser sections; the process remains visible at all times through the shatterproof front pane.

Connection and cooling water requirements

The PD 4 DG requires a three-phase connection with 400 volts, 3/N/PE at 50 or 60 hertz, and draws a maximum of 5.8 kilowatts; the mains cable terminates in a red CEE plug (IEC 60309, 5-pin, 16 A). Cooling water consumption is 2.4 litres per minute; the pressure differential must be at least 3 bar and must not exceed 7 bar. The water cooling inlet and drain are designed for a 1/2-inch diameter hose. The unit does not have a storage tank; the finished bi-distillate drains via the hose connection on the right-hand side of the unit.

Typical applications

  • Bacteriological and medical sample preparation requiring a continuously visible process
  • Preparation of cell and tissue cultures with high purity requirements
  • Cleaning and sterilisation processes in the laboratory
  • Production of buffer solutions in quality assurance, development and research, where contact with stainless steel in the water path is to be avoided

Series overview

Within the two-stage Puridest models, the PD 4 DG is the only version in which both stages are made entirely of glass; the Puridest PD 4 D achieves the same conductivity of 1.6 µS/cm with a first stage made of stainless steel. For a higher throughput at the same conductivity, the Puridest PD 8 D is available with a capacity of 8 litres per hour. If a simple single-stage distillate is sufficient, the Puridest PD 4 G covers the same performance class without a second distillation stage, whilst the Puridest PD 4 R offers the same single-stage performance in a stainless steel version.

Warranty and procurement service

LAUDA provides a standard 12-month manufacturer’s warranty on this device from the date of purchase. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

Anyone who has previously used the PD 4 D and wishes to switch to a fully glass-bodied model will find the PD 4 DG to be the appropriate alternative, with the same conductivity value. Our procurement service will, on request, compile a list of suitable accessories and spare parts for the Puridest series and also advise on whether the 8-litre class or a pure mono version is more appropriate for your specific requirements.
