LAUDA Puridest PD 8 G Glass Distillation Apparatus, 8 L/h, Conductivity 2.2 µS/cm, L003019

Product information "LAUDA Puridest PD 8 G Glass Distillation Apparatus, 8 L/h, Conductivity 2.2 µS/cm, L003019"

If the 4-litre models in the Puridest range are no longer sufficient to meet daily water requirements, for example, because several workstations need to be supplied with mono-distillate simultaneously, the PD 8 G steps in with double the throughput. The glass distillation unit produces up to 8 litres of distilled water per hour at a conductivity of 2.2 µS/cm and allows the entire distillation process to be viewed through a shatterproof front pane. As with the smaller model, the distillation flask and condenser are made of Duran borosilicate glass 3.3, whilst the heating rods are sheathed in quartz glass.

Higher throughput with the same glass construction

To achieve 8 litres per hour instead of 4, the PD 8 G operates with a heating output of 6 kilowatts, twice that of the PD 4 G. The operating principle remains the same: A solenoid valve controls the water supply; the condenser section is designed to prevent droplet formation; a CO₂ degassing port releases dissolved gases; and an electronic contamination monitor automatically triggers a water change when necessary to clean the distillation flask. An electronic level monitoring system operates throughout the entire distillation process and automatically switches off the heating in the event of a water shortage; sterilisation is achieved by steaming the condenser section.

Three-phase power supply and cooling water supply

Due to its higher heating output, the PD 8 G requires a three-phase connection of 400 volts, 3/N/PE at 50 or 60 hertz; the mains cable terminates in a red CEE plug (IEC 60309, 5-pin, 16 A). The cooling water requirement is 2.4 litres per minute; the pressure differential must be at least 3 bar, and the maximum pressure must not exceed 7 bar. The water cooling inlet and drain are designed for a hose with a 1/2-inch diameter. No storage tank is provided; the mono-distillate drains directly via the hose connection.

Typical applications

  • Supplying several workstations with high-purity mono-distillate from a central unit
  • Sample preparation and quality assurance with higher daily water requirements
  • Research and development, where the 4-litre class is no longer sufficient
  • Wall-mounted or benchtop installation in laboratories with an existing three-phase power supply

Series overview

Within the Puridest series, the PD 8 G is the glass version offering the higher of the two available mono performance levels; the smaller Puridest PD 4 G covers the same configuration at 4 litres per hour. Those requiring a lower conductivity of 1.6 µS/cm at 8 litres per hour will find this in the two-stage Puridest PD 8 D. For the 4-litre class with additional bi-distillation, the Puridest PD 4 DG is available. If a stainless steel flask is preferred to a glass one, the Puridest PD 8 R covers the same performance class in stainless steel.

Warranty and procurement service

LAUDA provides a standard 12-month manufacturer’s warranty on this device from the date of purchase. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

Due to the three-phase connection, it is worth taking a quick look at the existing electrical installation at the installation site before placing your order. Our procurement service will, on request, compile a list of suitable accessories and spare parts for the Puridest series and also advise on whether, in a specific case, a bi-distillation variant with a lower conductivity value or a stainless steel version of the same performance class would be more appropriate.
