Anyone who works with frozen goods on a daily basis in a commercial kitchen, a bakery or a catering business is familiar with the problem of open doors: every second of cold air loss costs energy and compromises storage quality. The Liebherr FFFsg 6501, a commercial freezer cabinet with static cooling, is designed precisely for this kind of everyday use. The fan door contact switch minimises cold air loss every time the door is opened, whilst the robust steel housing and 332-litre net capacity ensure the interior remains reliably cool, even with frequent access by the kitchen team. This keeps the cold chain stable even when goods are removed several times an hour.

Robust technology for continuous use

The housing and door are made of steel, designed for daily use in commercial kitchens with frequent contact with trolleys and transport crates. The setting temperature range extends from -9 °C to -26 °C; the digital display is located on the outside of the unit, ensuring it remains legible even when the door is closed, without any loss of cold air due to unnecessary opening. In the event of a fault, the cabinet signals this visually and audibly, so that any loss of produce is detected early and the kitchen team can react quickly. The cabinet is designed for an ambient temperature of +10 °C to 40 °C, making it suitable even for warmer storage rooms or kitchens with waste heat from hobs and ovens.

Adjustable feet or castors: choose the right setup

The FFFsg 6501 can be mounted either on four height-adjustable levelling feet (adjustable from 150 to 180 mm) or on castors. With levelling feet, the unit can be precisely levelled and remains stable even on uneven kitchen floors; the unit measures 201.8 cm in height and has a net weight of 111.6 kg. With castors, the height is reduced to 199.3 cm with a net weight of 109.0 kg; in return, the unit can be easily moved out of the way for floor cleaning or to change its location without having to lift it. Which version is more worthwhile depends on the kitchen floor and how often the area around the unit needs cleaning: if the unit is rarely moved, adjustable feet are the more stable choice; if the area is frequently mopped or disinfected, castors save time and spare your back.

Organisation and clarity inside

Inside, 12 baskets provide structure, complemented by 6 shelves for additional storage options. The transverse insertion in 600 x 400 mm format accommodates standard catering containers, allowing goods to be stored sorted by category. The inner container is made of white plastic, which makes it easier to visually check for dirt. The aluminium handle and the reversible door hinge on the right make operation straightforward in tight kitchen spaces, whilst the mechanical lock provides additional security for the contents.

The FFFsg 6501 is suitable for commercial kitchens and canteens that stock large quantities of frozen goods, for bakeries and butchers with regular deliveries, and for catering businesses that need to store large quantities temporarily ahead of events. It also serves as additional cold storage capacity in the food wholesale sector alongside the main storage facility, for example for reserve stock or seasonal peaks.

Connection, networking and maintenance

The rated current is 2.0 A at 220 to 240 V and 50 Hz; the power cable is 3,000 mm long, which is sufficient for most kitchen set-ups without the need for an extension lead. Via the optional retrofittable Wi-Fi/LAN interface, the freezer cabinet can be integrated into an existing kitchen monitoring system if required. Defrosting is carried out manually, which is standard for static cooling systems and is best scheduled during quieter periods of operation. The natural refrigerant R 290 is used, with a charge of 135 g.
