Anyone who needs to store items in both the fridge and freezer compartments in the laboratory often requires two appliances, more floor space and two separate maintenance schedules. The Liebherr SCFvh 4002 combines both temperature zones in a single unit: a refrigeration compartment from +3 °C to +16 °C and a freezer compartment from -9 °C to -30 °C, each independently controllable and digitally monitored. This reduces the space required in the laboratory without compromising on temperature accuracy. As part of the Liebherr Perfection range, the unit is designed for laboratories with high standards regarding equipment and temperature monitoring.

Two temperature zones, one unit

With a total gross volume of 384 l (264 l net), the SCFvh 4002 offers sufficient capacity in both the refrigeration and freezer compartments for samples, reagents and reference materials. Five storage shelves made of plastic-coated wire mesh, each with a load capacity of 45 kg, organise the refrigeration compartment, whilst three further shelves organise the freezer compartment. With external dimensions of 204.4 x 59.7 x 65.4 cm (H/W/D) and a net weight of 84.20 kg, this unit is a freestanding combination that can be accommodated in most laboratory spaces.

Precise temperature control with alarm function

Both compartments are displayed digitally and can be controlled independently of one another: the refrigeration compartment from +3 °C to +16 °C, and the freezer compartment from -9 °C to -30 °C. In the event of deviations from the set temperature or if a door is left open, the unit issues visual and audible warnings, ensuring that faults are detected at an early stage before stored materials are damaged. Automatic defrosting in both compartments keeps maintenance requirements to a minimum during operation.

Designed for everyday laboratory use

The antimicrobial handle with opening mechanism is designed to meet the hygiene requirements of laboratory operations, whilst the white plastic inner chamber is easy to clean and disinfect. An LED light strip on the left illuminates the refrigeration compartment, whilst separate LED lighting illuminates the freezer compartment, ensuring that samples are clearly visible even in the rear areas. The mechanical lock with a reversible door hinge on the right secures the contents against unauthorised access.

Practical benefits of the dual-zone solution

Instead of distributing refrigerated and frozen items across two separate units in different locations within the laboratory, both temperature zones can be managed in a single unit, the SCFvh 4002. This reduces walking distances in day-to-day laboratory work and makes it easier to keep track of samples when they are moved between refrigeration and freezer storage as required. For facilities with limited floor space, this can make all the difference in terms of whether additional storage space is available at all. The combination also pays off when it comes to procurement: rather than ordering, maintaining and, if necessary, replacing two separate units, a single point of contact and a single service appointment are sufficient for both temperature zones, which noticeably simplifies planning and budgeting in day-to-day laboratory operations.

Successor with expanded functionality

The SCFvh 4002 is the successor to the Liebherr LCv 4010 and continues its concept of combined refrigeration and freezer storage for laboratories, supplemented by the integrated, removable Wi-Fi/LAN solution and the antimicrobial handle with opening mechanism.

Adjustable to individual requirements

As the refrigeration and freezer compartments are controlled independently of one another, the unit can be flexibly adapted to different storage requirements, for example when more refrigeration capacity is needed than freezer capacity at times, or vice versa. This flexibility sets it apart from a combination of two individually sized units.

Packaging and origin

Liebherr supplies the SCFvh 4002 packaged with dimensions of 61.5 x 72.5 x 208.0 cm and a gross weight of 89.50 kg; whilst the net weight of the unit once installed is 84.20 kg. The combination is manufactured at the Liebherr plant in Lienz.

Networked monitoring

An integrated, removable Wi-Fi/LAN solution enables connection to a network monitoring system, allowing temperature trends in the fridge and freezer compartments to be documented, for example for quality assurance or internal audits. With an annual energy consumption of 277 kWh, the combination operates economically in continuous use.
