Where there is no space in the laboratory for a large floor-standing unit, but low temperatures down to -35 °C are still required with full documentation reliability, the Liebherr SFTvh 1501 is the compact alternative. This Perfection-class benchtop freezer combines NoFrost fan-assisted cooling, DIN 13277 certification and comprehensive alarm monitoring in a unit measuring just 81.9 x 59.7 x 60.5 cm externally, meaning it fits on a worktop or under a counter.

Table-top unit instead of floor-standing unit: freestanding rather than built-in

Unlike the SFUfg and SFUsg under-counter units in this series, the SFTvh 1501 is designed as a freestanding tabletop unit, without the front ventilation that is required for integration into furniture. It can be easily placed on a level surface and is securely fixed in position by two adjustable feet. With a net weight of 40.50 kg and packaging dimensions of 61.5 x 71.0 x 89.0 cm, it can be transported and set up with minimal effort.

The interior of the SFTvh 1501 is already fitted with 2 shelves and 3 drawers, without the need to order a separate accessory pack, as is the case with its sister model, the SFTsg 1501. This ensures everything is within easy reach and well organised, even with smaller sample quantities, within the interior dimensions of 60.0 x 38.0 x 33.0 cm. The antimicrobial handle with opening mechanism and the LED interior lighting make daily access easier.

NoFrost cooling and monitoring in accordance with DIN 13277

The dynamic forced-air cooling system with automatic NoFrost defrosting maintains a constant temperature range from -9 °C to -35 °C without the need for manual defrosting. The SFTvh 1501 meets the requirements of DIN 13277 and is also certified to IEC 60068-3, IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-011 and IEC 61326-1. Faults are signalled visually and acoustically; the integrated, removable Wi-Fi/LAN interface connects the unit directly to an existing laboratory network. Energy consumption is 187 kWh per year.

Cleanroom suitability at the highest level in the series

According to the product data sheet, the SFTvh 1501 is designed to meet cleanroom standards in accordance with ISO EN 14644-1, achieving ISO Class 5 and GMP Class A. This makes the unit suitable for applications with higher requirements for environmental cleanliness.

Compact design without compromising on features

With a net weight of 40.50 kg and packaging dimensions of 61.5 x 71.0 x 89.0 cm, the SFTvh 1501 is comparatively easy to transport and set up, significantly less complicated than any of the large floor-standing units in the Liebherr laboratory range. The housing and door are made of robust steel, whilst the inner chamber is made of easy-to-clean white plastic. Despite its compact design, the SFTvh 1501 does not compromise on any aspect of the full ‘Perfection’ specification: NoFrost forced-air cooling, integrated network connectivity and DIN 13277-compliant monitoring are identical to those of the larger freestanding units in the same class.

Connection and operation

The SFTvh 1501 is connected to a standard laboratory socket supplying 220-240 V via a 3,000 mm long connection cable; the connected load is 2.0 A or 207 W. Frequency compatibility of 50/60 Hz allows operation on both European and other international mains supplies. The mechanically reversible door can be adapted to the room layout as required, for example if a configuration with the door hinged on the left is more convenient for the workflow.

Typical applications

The SFTvh 1501 is suitable for laboratories and clinical practice rooms requiring documentation-compliant deep-freeze storage down to -35 °C in a compact space, for example as a supplement to a larger floor-standing unit or as a stand-alone solution at a workstation with limited floor space. The built-in drawers make it easy to sort samples by type without the need to order additional accessories. The SFTvh 1501 is also a suitable solution for smaller sites which, due to space constraints, cannot accommodate a large floor-standing unit but still require the full range of Perfection features. Medical practices, clinics and research facilities with several smaller sample areas also benefit from the fact that multiple SFTvh 1501 units can be set up at different workstations, rather than consolidating the entire stock in a single central floor-standing unit.
