Where floor space is limited in the laboratory but there is still a lack of reliable under-counter freezer space, the Liebherr SFUsg 1001 provides the solution. The under-counter freezer has a net capacity of 68 litres, cools statically down to -30 °C and, thanks to front-mounted ventilation, can be flexibly integrated into laboratory furniture without the need for a separate freestanding unit.

Designed for integration into laboratory furniture

The SFUsg 1001 is specifically designed for installation beneath a laboratory worktop. The front-mounted air intake and exhaust eliminate the need for a separate ventilation system within the furniture, whilst the four adjustable feet can be set within a range of 0 to 60 mm to precisely align the unit with the surrounding furniture height of 82 to 88 cm. With external dimensions of 81.9 x 59.7 x 58.4 cm and a net weight of 34.90 kg, it fits under almost any standard worktop.

Static cooling without ATEX requirements

Unlike its structurally identical sister model, the SFUfg 1001, the SFUsg 1001 does not feature an ignition-source-free interior or the additional EN-IEC 60079-7 certification. For general laboratory applications without this requirement, it is therefore the more economical choice whilst offering virtually identical technical specifications: the same external dimensions, the same static cooling circuit, the same SmartFrost technology to prevent ice build-up, and a temperature stability of ±5 °C. The net weight of 34.90 kg and the packaging dimensions also differ only minimally from the ATEX model.

Operation and safety in everyday use

The temperature is displayed on an external digital display, whilst the unit signals faults visually and audibly. Defrosting is carried out manually; the antimicrobial handle with an opening mechanism and the mechanically lockable door, which can be hinged on either the right or left side, round off the features. A Wi-Fi/LAN interface can be retrofitted if required. The housing and door are made of steel, whilst the inner chamber is made of white plastic. The 3,000 mm long connection cable and 50/60 Hz frequency compatibility allow for flexible positioning within the cabinet and operation on different mains supplies.

Cleanroom suitability for laboratory use

According to the product data sheet, the SFUsg 1001 is designed to be cleanroom-compatible in accordance with ISO EN 14644-1 (ISO Class 6) and complies with GMP Class B, certified to IEC 60068-3, IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-011 and IEC 61326-1. Energy consumption stands at 123 kWh per year, a moderate figure for an under-counter unit of this size.

With internal dimensions of 52.0 x 42.4 x 38.6 cm, the SFUsg 1001 offers a net volume of 68 litres for the storage of samples and reagents, despite its compact under-counter design. With a net weight of 34.90 kg and packaging dimensions of 61.5 x 71.0 x 89.0 cm, the unit can be easily delivered and installed in the designated cabinet. The rated current of 2.0 A at 220–240 V allows operation from a standard laboratory socket without the need for a separate electrical installation.

Performance Class: ease of use as a guiding principle

The SFUsg 1001 belongs to the Performance Class of the Liebherr laboratory range and deliberately focuses on basic mechanical features: manual defrosting, a mechanical door lock and a digital display instead of a networked touchscreen control panel. This keeps the unit low-maintenance and easy to operate.
