Not every laboratory needs a large freestanding unit for cold storage; often, a compact laboratory fridge is sufficient for a side room or an additional location. The Liebherr SRCse 801 is a compact laboratory fridge with a net capacity of 78 litres and a temperature range of +3 °C to +7 °C. It complies with safety standard IEC 61010-2-011 and, with external dimensions of just 68 x 55 x 61 cm (H x W x D), can be accommodated on a worktop or in a corner of the room.

Full range of laboratory standards despite compact design

Unlike its freezer counterpart, the SFCse 801, the SRCse 801 is tested to the full range of laboratory standards: IEC 60068-3, IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-011 and IEC 61326-1. This means that the compact design is also suitable for applications where formal certification to IEC 61010 is required, an advantage over simple domestic appliances of a comparable size.

Static cooling with ±3 °C temperature stability

The SRCse 801 uses static cooling and maintains the temperature with a stability of ±3 °C; defrosting in the cooling compartment takes place automatically. The temperature is displayed on an external digital readout, whilst the unit signals faults visually and audibly. If required, a Wi-Fi/LAN interface can be retrofitted, allowing the unit to be connected to digital monitoring systems.

Interior layout and compact weight

The interior (internal dimensions 52.0 x 40.0 x 46.0 cm) features three glass shelves, each with a load capacity of 40 kg. With a net weight of 27.30 kg and packaging dimensions of 56.7 x 71.1 x 73.2 cm, the SRCse 801 can be transported with minimal effort. The recessed handle, the LED interior lighting and the mechanically lockable door, which can be hinged on either the right or left, round off the features.

Manufactured at the Liebherr plant in Marica

Like its freezer counterpart, the SFCse 801, the SRCse 801 is manufactured at the Liebherr plant in Marica, Bulgaria, whilst most other Liebherr laboratory appliances are produced at the Lienz plant. This does not affect the manufacturer’s brand or quality standards; both plants are part of Liebherr-Hausgeräte GmbH. According to the product data sheet, the unit is designed for cleanroom use in accordance with ISO EN 14644-1 (ISO Class 5) and complies with GMP Class B.

Compact for transport, robust construction

The steel housing and door ensure a durable construction that requires little maintenance even during continuous operation. With a net weight of just 27.30 kg, the SRCse 801 is one of the lightest appliances in the entire Liebherr laboratory range and can be carried to its destination without the need for a pallet truck or hand truck. The compact packaging dimensions of 56.7 x 71.1 x 73.2 cm also fit through most standard doors, which significantly simplifies on-site installation.

Performance class with full laboratory certification

The SRCse 801 belongs to the Performance Class of the Liebherr laboratory range and features basic mechanical fittings, including a recessed handle and a mechanical door lock, rather than the networked touchscreen control system offered by Perfection appliances, such as those in the SRTvh series. Unlike the larger Perfection freestanding units, the SRCse 801 lacks DIN 13277 certification and an integrated network connection; however, it scores highly with its low weight, compact design and a rated current of just 1.3 A, which operates without any problems even on circuits with lower fuse ratings.

Typical applications

The SRCse 801 is suitable wherever a compact yet fully tested refrigerator, tested to the laboratory standards series, is required for smaller quantities of sample material. For example, it allows additional cold storage to be provided at a reception desk or secondary workstation without the need to install a full-size freestanding unit. The SRCse 801 is also well suited as a secondary unit alongside a larger laboratory refrigerator, for instance to store samples with different access requirements separately. Thanks to its low weight, the SRCse 801 is also a practical option for mobile applications or temporary locations where a lightweight, quick-to-set-up unit is required.
