Where there is no space for an additional refrigeration unit under the laboratory worktop, the Liebherr SRUvg 1001 provides a space-saving solution. This laboratory refrigeration unit from the Performance Series, featuring dynamic forced-air cooling, is designed for integration beneath a worktop, with a net capacity of 81 l and external dimensions of just 59.7 x 58.4 x 81.9 cm (W x D x H). Precise 1-point calibration in 0.1 K increments ensures that the actual internal temperature matches the display exactly.

Under-counter unit with front ventilation

The SRUvg 1001 is designed for integration into furniture with front-mounted air intake and exhaust, allowing it to be installed side-by-side with other base unit elements. Height-adjustable feet (0 to 60 mm) allow the unit to be adapted to a recess with a height of 82.0 to 88.0 cm; the required recess width is 60.0 cm, and the recess depth is 58.0 cm. The housing and door are made of white steel, whilst the inner container is made of easy-to-clean white plastic; an LED ceiling light ensures a clear view of the contents.

Operation whilst wearing gloves and alarm functions

The control panel is flush with the door, allowing the appliance status to be read without opening the door. The menu navigation is self-explanatory and can be operated using icons and voice guidance in up to 12 languages, even whilst wearing gloves, via three touch buttons. In the event of a fault, an alarm relay immediately notifies the relevant control centre; an integrated alarm test checks that the alarm system is functioning correctly without interrupting the cooling process. In the event of faults, the unit also provides visual and audible warnings, whilst a power failure alarm sounds when mains power is restored.

Interior layout and cleanroom class

The interior features 3 shelving levels, 2 of which are height-adjustable. The plastic-coated shelves offer a usable area of 45.0 x 40.8 cm and can each support a load of up to 45 kg. According to the manufacturer, the unit is suitable for cleanroom use in accordance with ISO EN 14644-1 (ISO Class 4, the highest cleanroom class in the under-counter range) and complies with GMP Class B; it is also certified to IEC 60068-3, IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-011 and IEC 61326-1. Liebherr guarantees the availability of spare parts for 15 years after the end of production.

Steel door or insulated glass door

The SRUvg 1001 comes with a steel door. For those who would prefer to be able to check stock levels at a glance at any time, the SRUvg 1011 model with an insulated glass door (994788251), which offers the ideal alternative from the same series, albeit with a higher annual energy consumption of 182 kWh instead of 91 kWh and a lower cleanroom class (ISO Class 6 instead of ISO Class 4). If ATEX certification for flammable substances is required, the SRUfg 1001 (994821351), a version of identical construction with an ignition-source-free interior, is available. The unit is fundamentally compatible with SmartMonitoring; connection is via the optional SmartModule and the retrofittable Wi-Fi/LAN interface.

Connection and cooling capacity

The SRUvg 1001 operates with a rated power consumption of 80 W at 220-240 V and 50/60 Hz, fused at 10 to 16 A; the supplied connection cable is 3,000 mm long. Starting from a cold state, the unit cools down from +25 °C to +5 °C in around 27 minutes at an ambient temperature of +25 °C; after the door has been open for one minute, it takes around 5 minutes to return to the set temperature, both of which are significantly faster than with the ATEX equivalent, the SRUfg 1001. These figures are laboratory values in accordance with EN 60068-3 and provide a guide for practical use; they do not constitute a guarantee in individual cases. The adjustable feet are made of plastic; the maximum installation altitude is 2,000 m above sea level.

Typical applications

The SRUvg 1001 is suitable wherever space needs to be created under a laboratory worktop for the daily stock of reagents or samples, without the need for ATEX certification. Particularly in cramped laboratory spaces with limited floor space, integration into the base unit often eliminates the need for an additional freestanding refrigerator, without compromising on temperature monitoring and alarm functions. The unit is also suitable as a second, decentralised refrigeration unit at a secondary workstation.
