The Macherey-Nagel MN GF-1 glass fibre filter circles filter quickly while retaining particles from 0.7 µm. According to the data sheet, the filtration speed is 12 s. This is shorter than for the MN 85/90 and MN 85/70 at 15 s each and for the MN GF-3 at 25 s. The filter consists of borosilicate glass microfibres without binder, is 0.28 mm thick and weighs 52 g/m².

Glass fibre filter circles with short filtration time

Macherey-Nagel describes the GF-1 as a glass fibre filter with fast filtration and very good retention for highly efficient laboratory filtration and air sampling. The average retention capacity of 0.7 µm is above that of the MN GF-3 and MN 85/70 at 0.6 µm each and of the MN 85/90 at 0.5 µm. If you mainly want to save time and 0.7 µm is sufficient, the GF-1 is suitable. For a finer filtrate, the MN GF-3 is an option.

Up to 500 °C without binder

Without a binder, the GF-1 withstands up to 500 °C according to the data sheet. The types with binder, MN 85/90 and MN 85/70, are rated up to 200 °C and, according to Macherey-Nagel, have comparatively high mechanical stability. The GF-1 is the type to choose when speed and temperature matter more than this additional strength.
