Meditrade Rollicel Treatment Table Cover, 2-ply, 50 cm x 50 m, 3750-50

Between two treatments, the treatment table cover must be changed quickly, without wasting time on time-consuming interim disinfection. The Meditrade Rollicel treatment table cover is a 2-ply roll made from 100 per cent cellulose for examination and treatment tables; it is chlorine-free bleached and, according to the manufacturer, free from mercury, lead, cadmium and chromium(VI) compounds. The roll has a nominal width of 50 cm; the actual width, according to the data sheet, is 49.7 cm, with a roll length of 50 m, providing 135 tear-off sheets, each 370 mm long. Depending on the length of the treatment table, one roll therefore covers several dozen treatments before it needs to be replaced.

2-ply and tear-resistant

With a basis weight of 16 g/m² and a dry tear strength of 26.48 N/m, tested in accordance with ISO 9073, the two-ply version offers sufficient stability for multiple daily changes between patients or clients. Two layers of cellulose withstand mechanical stress caused by sitting down, repositioning or supporting the patient better than a single-layer version. According to the data sheet, weight and dimensions are subject to a production-related tolerance of ± 5 per cent, a standard manufacturing margin for paper and non-woven products.

Non-irritating and allergen-free

According to the manufacturer, the material is irritation- and allergen-free, an important consideration given the direct and sometimes prolonged skin contact on the treatment table, for example during physiotherapy sessions involving significant skin contact or for patients with sensitive skin. In the version listed here, Rollicel is uncoated, meaning the paper absorbs across its entire surface.

Compact roll dimensions for dispensers and treatment table holders

The outer diameter of the roll is 13 cm, the inner diameter of the core is 4.0 cm, and the weight per roll is 0.82 kg. These dimensions are important when selecting suitable roll holders or wall-mounted dispensers for the treatment couch, particularly if rolls of other widths are already in use there. The standard sheet length of 370 mm also ensures that a consistent strip length is obtained when tearing along the perforation, which makes it easier to cut the paper to the length of the treatment couch.

The uncoated version bears the EU Ecolabel and is manufactured under a quality management system certified to EN ISO 13485:2016, the same family of standards that also applies as a quality standard for medical device manufacturers. When stored in a cool, dry place and protected from direct sunlight, the shelf life is 5 years, a figure that allows for generous stockpiling without any quality concerns.

Disposable treatment table cover instead of fabric

Unlike a fabric treatment table cover, which must be washed and dried after every treatment, the Rollicel is simply torn off and disposed of after use. This saves the effort involved in washing cycles and stocking up on textiles, and prevents the transfer of residues between consecutive treatments, provided the cover is changed after each use. For practices with a high turnover on the treatment table, this is a significant organisational advantage over reusable textiles.

Packaging and order quantities

In wholesale, 9 rolls are grouped together in one box; 30 boxes make up one pallet. For practices with several treatment rooms or treatment tables, it is worth stocking up on several rolls so that no last-minute replenishment needs to be organised whilst the practice is in operation. The packaging itself is made of cardboard and PE film and is registered in the Austrian collection and recycling system under the exemption number ARA 94130, a detail that may be relevant when disposing of the packaging.
