With an internal volume of 966 litres, the Memmert ULT1000eco ultra-low temperature freezer is the largest model in the eco series and cools samples to between minus 50 and minus 86 °C. It can accommodate up to 770 2-inch cryoboxes, making it an attractive option for biobanking with high storage requirements.
Largest model in the eco series for centralised storage
The interior can support up to 440 kilograms; each of the three height-adjustable shelves can support up to 220 kilograms; two stainless-steel interior doors and the shelves divide the interior into four sections. With external dimensions of 1,285 by 1,992 by 973 millimetres and a net weight of around 425 kilograms, delivery should be planned accordingly: In its carton, the unit measures 1,440 × 2,250 × 1,080 millimetres and must be transported in an upright position. At the installation site, the ULT1000eco can be moved and locked in place on its castors.
Two inverter compressors for high capacity
Two cascade-connected inverter compressors cool the large interior, the first stage using R290 and the second stage using R170, via an air-cooled condenser. The inverter compressors adjust their speed to match the cooling demand; the cooling system is designed for precise temperature control and high energy efficiency.
Touchscreen, sensors and interfaces
The 7-inch touchscreen in the outer door controls the temperature to an accuracy of 0.1 °C. A Pt1000 sensor continuously monitors the chamber; any deviations are signalled by a visual and audible alarm. Ethernet LAN and USB are standard features, whilst remote monitoring is available as an option.
Protection against power cuts and door
The insulated stainless steel outer door, fitted with a mechanical door lock and door-open detection, protects the large interior from being opened without being noticed. There is a 26-millimetre-diameter feed-through or pressure relief vent on the side. In the event of a power cut, a buffer battery maintains the alarm and monitoring functions.
When is the ULT750eco sufficient?
If the full capacity of 770 boxes is not expected to be utilised in the foreseeable future, or if less floor space is available, the ULT750eco, with 576 boxes and a smaller footprint, already covers many applications. For central biobanks with several connected departments and long-term high growth, the ULT1000eco, as the largest model in the eco series, remains the option offering the greatest capacity.
