The Memmert ultra-low temperature freezer ULT360eco | LT Laborhandel stores samples at temperatures ranging from minus 50 to minus 86 °C, with an internal capacity of 360 litres, and can accommodate up to 264 2-inch cryoboxes. It is the second-smallest of five sizes in the eco series, positioned between the ULT240eco (244 litres) and the ULT500eco (506 litres).
More capacity for growing sample collections
The interior has a capacity of 360 litres and can support a total load of up to 320 kilograms, with each of the three height-adjustable shelves capable of bearing up to 160 kilograms. Two stainless-steel internal doors and the shelves divide the interior into four sections, allowing different types of samples to be stored separately. With external dimensions of 700 × 1,992 × 888 millimetres, the ULT360eco is as wide as the ULT240eco, but 150 millimetres deeper and 160 millimetres taller.
Cascade cooling with two inverter compressors
The cascade cooling system operates with two inverter compressors, R290 in the first stage and R170 in the second stage, with an air-cooled condenser. The inverter compressors distinguish the ULT360eco from the standard ULT360 model of the same size, which operates with R455A in the first stage and without inverter technology. The cooling system of the eco version is designed for precise temperature control and high energy efficiency.
Control via the 7-inch touchscreen
A 7-inch touchscreen in the outer door regulates the temperature to an accuracy of 0.1 °C and displays the current status of the chamber. A Pt1000 sensor continuously monitors the temperature, whilst a visual and audible alarm immediately signals any deviations. The cabinet comes fitted as standard with Ethernet LAN and USB interfaces.
Door security and alarm system
The insulated stainless-steel outer door is fitted with a mechanical door lock, whilst a door-open detection system registers if the door remains open for an extended period. A 26-millimetre-diameter feed-through or pressure relief vent is located on the side. In the event of a power cut, a backup battery keeps the alarm and monitoring systems running.
240 or 500: where does the ULT360eco fit in?
If 162 boxes are sufficient and floor space is limited, the smaller ULT240eco saves space. If, on the other hand, it becomes apparent that the ULT360eco’s 264 boxes will no longer be sufficient in the foreseeable future, for example, because several workgroups are using the same chamber, the ULT500eco, with a capacity of 506 litres and 384 boxes, offers a buffer that is more likely to be sufficient in the long term.
