Sauter FS 2-25KRQ1 force measuring set, compressive force, 25 kN / 5 N

The Sauter FS RQ1 are force measuring sets for large compressive forces from 25 kN to 100 kN. Each set comprises the FS 2 load cell and a round stainless steel load cell from the CR series (type 1Q1), which Kern supplies fully assembled. The load cell measures only compressive forces, the accuracy is a combined error of 0.05 % F.S. There are three models: FS 2-25KRQ1 with 25 kN and 5 N readability, FS 2-50KRQ1 with 50 kN and 10 N, and FS 2-100KRQ1 with 100 kN and 20 N.

Round stainless steel load cell

The load cell is round and measures 82 x 44 mm. It is made of stainless steel and is protected against dust and splashing water according to IP68. The rated output is 2 mV/V, Kern states the accuracy class as OIML C1. As the load cell is round and flat, it fits under presses, test punches or load plates where a compressive force acts vertically from above. This series is not intended for tensile forces; the RY1 and SP1 series are available for this purpose.

The FS 2 device: touchscreen, memory, interface

The FS 2 features a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a touch pen and a colour TFT display in five menu languages (German, English, French, Spanish, Italian). Two measuring channels for external force sensors are built in; the system can be upgraded to four channels at a later date. The data from the connected sensor is contained within the connector, so the device recognises which load cell is connected. It measures, stores and transmits at up to 1,000 Hz per channel and has a resolution of up to 10,000 data points per channel.

Measuring functions and data transmission

The track function for the current display, peak value measurement and a tolerance function with limit values are available. The internal device memory has a capacity of 16 GB. Data is transferred to a PC via the USB interface (USB-C), which also supplies power to the device. The Kern Communication Protocol (KCP) enables connection to computers and control systems. Adjustment is carried out as a two-point adjustment using weights or numerically.

Rechargeable battery and case

According to Kern, the Li-ion rechargeable battery lasts up to 8 h without backlight and up to 5 h with backlight; the charging time is approx. 8 h. The set comes in a Systainer T-LOC with a plug-in mains adaptor (100 V to 240 V, EU plug) and a USB Type-C cable. A UK power supply adaptor is available as an option.

Calibration

Factory calibration certificates and DAkkS calibration certificates are available as separate items for each measuring range. The item numbers are listed in the model table. The calibration procedure for the DAkkS certificates is DKD-R 3-3 (procedure A). The certificates apply to compressive force: 961-265 and 963-265 for 21 kN to 50 kN, 961-266 and 963-266 for 51 kN to 120 kN.

Warranty

According to Kern & Sohn, these devices come with a 3-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.

Individual requirements and procurement service

Further load cells of types CO, CR and CS, torque sensors of the DC series, the A/D converter module FS 34, the transport case FS TKZ, screw clamps (AC 14), clamps of the AE series (AE 01 to AE 07) and the power supply adaptor YKA-01 for UK are also available.
