Sauter FS 2-500OY2 force measuring set with button load cell, tension and compression, 500 N / 0.1 N

The Sauter FS OY2 measure small tensile and compressive forces up to 1 kN with a miniature button load cell made of stainless steel. The FS 2 force gauge and the CO series load cell (type Y2) are pre-configured. There are three sets to choose from: FS 2-100OY2 (100 N, 0.02 N readability), FS 2-500OY2 (500 N, 0.1 N) and FS 2-1KOY2 (1 kN, 0.2 N).

Button load cell: small and robust

A button load cell is compact and round and can be fitted where there is no room for an S-type load cell. The load cell in the FS 2-100OY2 and the FS 2-500OY2 measures 26 x 37.5 mm, whilst that in the FS 2-1KOY2 measures 51 x 70 mm. The dust and splash protection corresponds to IP65. Kern specifies the accuracy class as OIML G5 and a combined error of 0.5 % F.S. The rated output is 1 mV/V for the FS 2-100OY2 and 1.5 mV/V for the other two sets. The load cells measure tension and compression.

Measuring with the FS 2

The FS 2 force gauge has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and two inputs for external sensors, which can be expanded to four. The sensor data is embedded in the connector, so that the device automatically recognises the load cell. You can measure in track mode, record peak values or use a tolerance function where limit values are specified. The device memory has a capacity of 16 GB, and the sampling rate is up to 1,000 Hz per channel.

Adjustment, USB and rechargeable battery

Two-point adjustment is carried out using test weights; alternatively, values can be entered numerically. The USB interface (USB-C) transfers data and powers the device. According to Kern, the Li-ion rechargeable battery lasts up to 8 h without backlight and 5 h with backlight. The Systainer T-LOC also contains a plug-in mains adaptor and a USB Type-C cable.

Calibration

Factory calibration certificates and DAkkS calibration certificates are available as separate items for each measuring range and force direction (tension, compression, tension and compression). The item numbers are listed in the model table. The calibration procedure for the DAkkS certificates is DKD-R 3-3 (procedure A).

Warranty

According to Kern & Sohn, these devices come with a 3-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.

Further load cells of types CO, CR and CS, torque sensors of the DC series, the A/D converter module FS 34, the transport case FS TKZ, screw clamps (AC 14), clamps of the AE series (AE 01 to AE 07) and the power supply adaptor YKA-01 for UK are also available.
