Product information "Sauter HK-D portable Leeb hardness tester, 170 to 960 HLD, sensor D, memory for 600 measurement groups"
The Sauter HK-D is a portable Leeb hardness tester in a die-cast aluminium housing with an external rebound sensor type D. It measures metals directly on the component in the range from 170 to 960 HLD with a readability of 1 HL. The measured values can be converted to Rockwell, Vickers and Brinell. The device includes a memory for 600 measurement groups, a limit value function with signal and a USB interface.
Portable rather than benchtop unit
According to Kern, the HK-D offers greater flexibility of use than stationary benchtop units and devices with an internal sensor. The sensor is external and is placed on the test object. An automatic compensation function compensates for the test direction, so that measurements can be taken in all directions (360°). According to Kern, on a solid surface and with firm coupling, a test object with a thickness of at least 3 mm and a weight of at least 2 kg is sufficient. The minimum radius of curvature is 50 mm; with a stabilising ring, it is 10 mm.
Memory, statistics and limit values
The internal memory can store up to 600 measurement groups, each containing up to 32 individual values, from which the device calculates the group average. The mini statistics display shows the measured value, average value, measurement direction, date and time. For series testing, upper and lower limit values can be programmed, with an audible and a visual signal indicating when these limits are exceeded. The results are transferred to a PC via USB.
Display and hardness conversion
The backlit matrix display (graphic LCD, digit height 11 mm) shows all relevant functions at a glance. The measurement result is automatically converted into the selected hardness units: HL, HV, HB, HRB and HRC. According to Kern, the measurement accuracy is ± 1 % at 800 HLD (± 6 HLD).
External sensors and accessories
The HK-D operates with the sensor type D supplied. Further external rebound sensors are available for other test tasks: type C, type D+15, type DL and type G (AHMR C, AHMR D+15, AHMR DL, AHMR G), as well as a replacement impact body (AHMO D01) and support rings (AHMR 01).
Typical applications
- Automotive industry: hardness testing of shafts, gears and castings
- Metalworking and steel construction: on-site hardness testing of components and welded joints
- Energy and power plant industry: testing large plant components without dismantling them
- Oil and gas industry: hardness checks on pipework and fittings
- Aerospace: hardness testing of metal components
Those who test components that cannot be placed on a table will find in the HK-D a device with a hand-held sensor.
