Sauter SO 200K light meter with photo sensor, up to 200,000 lx, 0.1 lx

The Sauter SO 200K is a light meter with a remote photo sensor that displays illuminance in lux (lx) or foot-candles (fc). Four measuring ranges extend up to 200,000 lx: up to 200 lx with 0.1 lx readability, up to 2,000 lx with 1 lx readability, up to 20,000 lx with 10 lx readability and up to 200,000 lx with 100 lx readability. The sensor, which features a silicon diode, is attached to a cable approximately 1 m long, allowing it to rest on the work surface whilst you hold the display unit in your hand. The device is powered by a 9 V block battery, which is included in the scope of delivery.

Checking the workplace

Kern names as the purpose of the measurement the comparison of workplace lighting with standard requirements, for example DIN EN 12464-1 (lighting of indoor workplaces). The device provides the measured values, which are then compared with the target values specified in the standard. A cosine correction ensures that even light incident at an angle is correctly weighted. A protective cover protects the photo sensor, a protective sleeve absorbs impacts to the device.

Track, peak hold and units

The track function continuously displays changing environmental conditions, such as daylight or dimmable lighting. The peak hold function holds the peak value. The device measures at 2 Hz. The LCD has 16 mm high digits. The device switches off after 1 min of inactivity. The selected range determines the readability: indoors, you read to 0.1 lx or 1 lx in the lower ranges, in bright outdoor light to 10 lx or 100 lx in the upper ranges.

The device measures in four ranges. The readability becomes coarser with the range.

Warranty

According to Kern & Sohn, this device comes with a 2-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.
