Sauter TG 1250-0.1FN digital coating thickness gauge, types F and N, with memory and scan mode, 1,250 µm

Product information "Sauter TG 1250-0.1FN digital coating thickness gauge, types F and N, with memory and scan mode, 1,250 µm"

The Sauter TG 1250-0.1FN measures the thickness of paint and varnish coatings on iron, steel and non-magnetic metals. The external sensor covers both types of substrate (type F and type N). The device has two measuring ranges: up to 100 µm with a readability of 0.1 µm and up to 1,250 µm with a readability of 1 µm; it also features a backlit graphic LCD, a memory for 99 measured values and an RS-232 interface.

Single measurement and scan mode

The TG has two measuring modes. In single measurement mode, one value is recorded each time the sensor is placed on the surface. In scan mode, the device measures continuously and shows the values on the display as it goes. The mini statistics display shows the measured value, the average value, and the maximum and minimum values.

Memory and RS-232

The internal memory can store up to 99 measured values. The values are transmitted via the RS-232 interface to a printer, a PC or other devices. The ATC-01 software is available as an accessory for transmission to a PC. The display features 10 mm high digits and shows all information at a glance.

Accuracy and Offset-Accur

In standard mode, the measurement accuracy is, according to Kern, 3 % of the measured value or ± 2.5 µm. The Offset-Accur function sets the instrument to the specific measuring range via a two-point adjustment; thereafter, according to Kern, the accuracy is 1 % of the measured value or ± 1 µm. The zero plate and the adjustment foils are supplied; additional adjustment foils (ATB-US07) are available. The base material must be at least 300 µm thick; according to Kern, the smallest sample area has a radius of 1.5 mm (convex), 6 mm (flat) and 50 mm (concave).

Typical applications

  • Automotive industry: paint film thickness on bodywork and supplier parts, including scan mode for larger surfaces
  • Electroplating and metal finishing: checking coating thicknesses in the process and evaluating them with statistics
  • Shipbuilding and aviation: measuring coatings on structural components
  • Laboratories and quality control: saving measured values and outputting them via RS-232
  • Construction and building sites: on-site measurement of coatings on steel and metal components

The TG is the model featuring memory, statistical functions and scan mode. Those who only need individual values and wish to output them via RS-232 can opt for the TE series, which is also available.
