The WTW SenTix 60 is the laboratory electrode from the SenTix 60 to 62 series, in the version with an S7 plug-in head. It features a glass shaft with a conical membrane, a platinum wire diaphragm and a refillable reference electrolyte. The temperature range extends up to 100 °C; a connection cable is not included in the scope of delivery.
Glass, conical diaphragm, platinum wire
The shaft and diaphragm are made of glass; the shaft is 120 mm long and has a diameter of 12 mm. The platinum wire diaphragm is situated at the lower end of the shaft. The diaphragm resistance is less than 600 MΩ. It is intended for laboratory use. Gas bubbles behind the diaphragm are not a problem with this type; shaking before measurement is not necessary.
Refilling and measurement
The measuring chain is filled with reference electrolyte (3 mol/l KCl, Ag⁺-free) at the factory. The refill port remains open during calibration and measurement. The dropper bottle included in the scope of delivery is used for topping up when the level in the shaft drops. The electrolyte level should be at least 2 cm above the sample level; the diaphragm must be completely submerged.
Cables and temperature sensors
The S7 connector head allows you to select the connection cable to suit the instrument: AS/DIN with 1 m (order no. 108110) or 3 m (108112) and AS/BNC with 1 m (108114). The SenTix 60 does not have a built-in temperature sensor. If you require one in the shaft, choose the SenTix 81 with an integrated NTC sensor. The SenTix 62 is a measuring chain with a fixed cable and BNC connector, without a sensor.
Media and Limitations
Typical media range from diluted acids through emulsions and suspensions to food samples and protein-containing liquids. Proteins can be removed after measurement using a pepsin cleaning solution. Hydrofluoric acid, hot phosphoric acid and strong alkaline solutions will destroy the glass membrane. The measuring chain must not be stored dry or in deionised water.
