The Bandelin SONOPULS GM 4400 is the generator in the HD 4000 series for the UW 200 and UW 400 transducers: Peak ultrasonic power 1,600 W, nominal ultrasonic power 400 W, operating frequency 20 kHz with automatic resonance frequency search. It is the generator included in the SONOPULS HD 4400 set and is also available as a standalone item.

Power and transducer selection

Depending on the transducer connected, the GM 4400 delivers a maximum of 200 or 400 W; the power adjustment range is 60 to 300 W. It is suitable for use with the HD 4200 and HD 4400 homogenisers. For those working with transducers from 50 W upwards, the SONOPULS GM 4200 is the generator for the lower power class. Both generators are the same size and have the same range of functions; they differ in terms of power output and the transducers they are compatible with.

Operation via the graphic display

A backlit LCD graphic display shows settings and measured values. The amplitude can be selected in 1 % increments between 10 and 100 %; the current value remains visible. Ultrasonic treatment can be carried out for up to 9 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds or in continuous operation. In pulse mode, working intervals of 0.2 to 600 seconds and rest intervals of 0.3 to 600 seconds can be set. The generator displays the energy input in kilojoules and stores nine programmes. It can be connected to other devices via the RS-232 interface.

Temperature at a glance

With the optional TM 50 or TM 100 temperature sensor, the GM 4400 displays temperatures ranging from -10 to +120 °C directly on the screen. Sensors, transducers, sonotrodes and the TS 8 foot switch are part of the SONOPULS range of accessories and are not included with this product.

Dimensions, connections and standards

The GM 4400 measures 335 x 150 x 230 mm and weighs approximately 3.6 kg. The housing has degree of protection IP 30 according to DIN EN 60529 and protection class I. It is connected to 230 V~ (± 10 %), 50/60 Hz, or alternatively to 115 V~ (± 10 %). Bandelin specifies the following standards for the device: EN 61010-1 (safety) and EN 61326-1 (EMC), as well as the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU.
