Long pipettes, tubing, tools or bench lamps rarely fit into a square sink. The Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 156 BH, with internal dimensions of 500 x 140 x 150 mm, is deliberately designed to be narrow and long, thus providing a total capacity of 9.0 l for elongated items that cannot be accommodated in the more compact SUPER RK models.

Narrow tank for elongated objects

Whilst most SUPER RK models have approximately square tanks, the RK 156 BH, measuring 500 mm in length and just 140 mm in width, is tailored to slender items: shorter laboratory glass rods, tools, hoses or several smaller instruments placed side by side. The working capacity is 6.0 l, and four oscillation systems ensure uniform ultrasonic agitation across the entire length of the tank.

600-watt heater for thorough cleaning

At an operating frequency of 35 kHz, the RK 156 BH delivers 860 watts of peak power and 215 watts of rated power; the SweepTec function prevents standing waves across the elongated tank shape. The 600-watt heater covers a range of 30 to 80 degrees Celsius and is fitted with dry-run protection; the timer ranges from 1 to 15 minutes (± 5 per cent) or continuous operation, controlled via rotary knobs for time and temperature.

Ball valve drain and robust construction

A G 1/4 ball valve on the right-hand side allows the tank to be drained in a controlled manner. The tank and housing are made of 1.4301 stainless steel with a thickness of 1.0 mm; the external dimensions of 530 x 165 x 300 mm and the net weight of 7.3 kg correspond to the narrow, elongated design. The housing is IP 32-rated, and the 2-metre power cable is permanently attached to the unit.

When the BH design is suitable

For compact, roughly cube-shaped items to be cleaned, the standard SUPER RK models, such as the RK 510 H (9.7 l, but with a more square tank), are often the more practical choice. The RK 156 BH is worth considering where the length of the items to be cleaned is the main issue, such as with rods, longer tools or multiple objects that need to be placed side by side rather than on top of one another.

Product range breakdown: SUPER RK, DIGITEC DT and smart ST

The slim BH design is currently only available within the SUPER RK series with classic rotary knob controls. Those looking instead for digital button controls with an LED display will find them in the DIGITEC DT series, whilst the smart ST series features touchscreen controls with programme memory. Use and maintenance

The working capacity of 6.0 l is less than the total capacity of 9.0 l, ensuring that no water spills over the rim when the items to be cleaned are placed inside. A concentrate from Bandelin’s TICKOPUR range is suitable as the cleaning agent. Freshly prepared liquid should be run briefly in continuous operation before the first cleaning cycle, so that dissolved air escapes and cavitation can take full effect. After use, the tank can be drained completely via the ball valve, leaving no residue, and then wiped dry.
