Bandelin SONOREX ZE 1032 Built-in ultrasonic bath with bottom and side sound (TwinSonic), 29 L, 3075

The Bandelin SONOREX ZE 1032 utilises both bottom and side ultrasonic transducers: in addition to the eight transducers at the bottom of the TE 1032 tank, there are four on the side. This built-in ultrasonic bath, designed for under-counter installation, has a capacity of 29.0 l and a peak power output of 1,760 watts.

TwinSonic: sound from below and from the side

Bandelin describes TwinSonic as a combination of bottom and side sound waves, which distributes the sound waves throughout the bath and reduces dead zones without the basket having to oscillate. In the TE 1032, this comprises twelve vibration systems, powered by the GT 504 M-C ultrasonic generator with a rated power of 440 watts. The frequency is 35 kHz. Added to this are the pulse function and sweep, as well as the SweepTec automatic frequency control, which is designed for particularly sensitive micro-instruments.

Tank and structure

The tank measures 510 x 300 mm internally, with a depth of 200/220+ mm. The base is sloped, the corners are rounded, and the drain is located in a 1½-inch bead. The 1.4404 stainless steel is 2.0 mm thick. Externally, the oscillating tank measures 570 x 404 x 270/290 mm, i.e. 404 mm wide compared with 360 mm for the ZE 1031. Of the 29.0-litre capacity, 20.0 l are available as working volume; a fill level mark is provided.

The generator is housed in its own aluminium casing with mounting brackets for vertical installation; it measures 360 x 310 x 142 mm and is rated to IP 20. It is connected to the tank via a 2-metre-long connection cable with an AMP-CPC plug.

Operation via rotary knob

The ST 15.1 control unit has a rotary knob for setting times from 1 to 15 minutes (± 5 %) and a setting for continuous operation. The ST 30.1 DT control unit for the SONOREX ZE 1032 DT, which otherwise uses the same bath and generator, features a temperature display.

ZE 1032 or ZE 1031

The SONOREX ZE 1031 has the same tank size, but only bottom transducers and 1,200 watts peak power. The ZE 1032 has 560 watts more peak power and four side transducers. If you want side-wave sound and the higher power, go for the ZE 1032. If bottom sound and 1,200 watts are enough for you, you can stick with the ZE 1031.

Basket, lid and foil test

The bath is supplied without a basket. The K 29 EM insert basket can be fitted into the KT 30 basket holder or the KT 30 Z with handles. The D 30 lid and the D 1031 G hinged lid are available as covers, whilst the SM 29 silicone studded mat (sold in a pack of two) is provided for the base. The FT 36 foil test frame is included in the kit. The G 1 ½ Type V drain fitting belongs to the bead in the tank base. During operation, the permissible ambient temperature is between 5 and 40 °C.
