Product information "Binder FD 115 drying and heating oven with forced air circulation, 116 l, up to 300 °C, 9010-0305"
The Binder FD 115 drying oven from the Avantgarde.Line FD series is a drying and heating oven with forced convection, designed for applications requiring rapid yet energy-efficient drying and sterilisation. With a usable volume of 116 litres and a temperature range from 10 °C above ambient temperature up to 300 °C, this benchtop unit offers greater capacity than the FD 56 without compromising on heating speed.
Up to 30% more energy-efficient in continuous operation
The FD 115 is designed for energy efficiency: according to the manufacturer, it is up to 30 per cent more energy-efficient than standard units on the market. At 100 °C, energy consumption is 215 Wh/h; at 150 °C, it is 340 Wh/h. This difference becomes particularly noticeable over time, especially during multi-shift operation or in batch testing where the unit is frequently in use.
Rapid heating and uniform temperature distribution
APT.line technology ensures uniform temperature distribution with rapid thermal response. At 150 °C, the FD 115 achieves a spatial temperature deviation of 1.7 ± K and a temporal deviation of 0.3 ± K. The heating time to 150 °C is 18 minutes; once the door is opened, the setpoint temperature is reached again after 4 minutes. An LCD controller with an electromechanically controlled exhaust air flap and an integrated Class 2 temperature selector limiter in accordance with DIN 12880, featuring a visual alarm, ensures ease of use and process reliability.
Typical applications
- Medium-scale drying of laboratory glassware and sample material
- Sterilisation processes in quality assurance, research and industry
- Time-critical drying and testing processes with reproducible results
- Batch testing in multi-shift operation thanks to high energy efficiency
In the case of frequently running drying or sterilisation processes, such as in laboratories with a high volume of samples, the FD 115’s lower energy consumption compared with standard market equipment has a direct impact on operating costs, without compromising on heating speed.
Selection guide: choosing the right size from the FD series
With a capacity of 116 litres, the FD 115 is the medium-sized model in the FD series: larger than the compact FD 23 and the FD 56, but significantly more manageable than the 741-litre large-capacity FD 720. You can find the complete range of this series in the LT Laborhandel range of climate chambers and incubators.
| Model | Internal volume, external dimensions (W x D x H), weight |
| FD 23 | 20 l, 435 x 520 x 495 mm, 27 kg |
| FD 56 | 60 l, 560 x 565 x 625 mm, 41 kg |
| FD 115 | 116 l, 710 x 605 x 735 mm, 54 kg |
| FD 260 | 259 l, 810 x 825 x 940 mm, 85 kg |
| FD 720 | 741 l, 1,165 x 870 x 1,590 mm, 166 kg |
For laboratories that regularly dry or sterilise medium-sized batches of laboratory glassware or sample material without needing to install a floor-standing unit, the FD 115 is usually the most cost-effective choice within the range.
Distinction: forced convection or natural convection
If a process requires gentler heating with minimal air movement rather than forced convection, the Binder ED 115 drying and heating cabinet – which is identical in construction and dimensions – is the alternative in the same size class. It reaches 150 °C only after around 45 minutes rather than 18, but without air turbulence inside the chamber, which can be relevant for light or open samples. For time-critical processes with high throughput, the FD 115 remains the more productive solution thanks to its significantly shorter heating-up time.
