Product information "Binder FD 23 drying and heating oven with forced circulation, 20 l, up to 300 °C, 9010-0194"
The Binder FD 23 drying oven is the most compact model in the Avantgarde.Line FD series with forced convection, designed for applications requiring particularly rapid drying and sterilisation in the smallest of spaces. With a usable volume of 20 litres and a temperature range from 5 °C above ambient temperature up to 300 °C, this benchtop unit is suitable for smaller sample quantities where precise and reproducible results are still essential.
Compact design with high temperature accuracy
Despite its compact dimensions, the APT.line preheating chamber technology ensures homogeneous temperature distribution within the chamber. At 150 °C, the FD 23 achieves a spatial temperature deviation of 2.5 ± K and a temporal deviation of 0.3 ± K. The heating time to 150 °C is around 25 minutes; with an air change rate of 64 times per hour at 150 °C, rapid air exchange is achieved even in a small interior space.
Process reliability thanks to integrated temperature selector limiter
The controller with timing functions features an integrated Class 2 temperature selector limiter in accordance with DIN 12880, complete with a visual alarm, which provides additional safety during unattended drying or sterilisation cycles. The adjustable exhaust air damper allows the air exchange rate to be tailored to the specific process, even for small batches.
Typical applications
- Drying small quantities of laboratory glassware and sample material
- Sterilisation processes where laboratory space is limited
- Rapid heat treatment of individual samples or small batches
- Supplementary unit alongside larger drying cabinets for routine tasks
For laboratories with limited space, where small batches still need to be dried or sterilised on a regular basis, the FD 23 offers the same APT.line technology as the larger FD models, but in the most compact format in the range.
Selection guide: choosing the right size from the FD series
Within the FD series, the FD 23, with a 20-litre capacity, is the most compact model for the workbench. Those requiring more capacity but still looking for a benchtop unit will find the next larger models in the FD 56 and FD 115, before the series culminates in the 400 V large-capacity FD 720. The complete range can be found in the LT Laborhandel range of climate chambers and incubators.
| Model | Useful volume, external dimensions (W x D x H), weight |
| FD 23 | 20 l, 435 x 520 x 495 mm, 27 kg |
| FD 56 | 60 l, 560 x 565 x 625 mm, 41 kg |
| FD 115 | 116 l, 710 x 605 x 735 mm, 54 kg |
| FD 260 | 259 l, 810 x 825 x 940 mm, 85 kg |
| FD 720 | 741 l, 1,165 x 870 x 1,590 mm, 166 kg |
For smaller sample volumes in training or routine laboratories, where the full temperature accuracy of the Avantgarde.Line is still required, the FD 23 remains the right choice. All models in the FD series share the same Class 2 temperature selector limiter in accordance with DIN 12880, as well as APT.line technology, meaning that process parameters that have been tried and tested can be transferred directly when switching to a larger model.
Distinction: forced air circulation or natural convection
Those who require particularly quiet heating with minimal air movement rather than active forced circulation will find the ideal alternative in the ED model of the same size: the Binder ED 23 drying and heating oven covers the same 20-litre volume but heats without a fan, which can be advantageous for dust-sensitive samples or open dishes. Where, on the other hand, short processing times and uniform heating are essential, the FD 23 with APT.line forced air remains the faster option. Both models also share the same external dimensions of 435 x 520 x 495 mm, so switching between the FD 23 and ED 23 does not require any adjustment to the footprint.
