Binder FD 720 drying and heating oven with forced air circulation, 741 l, 400 V, up to 300 °C, 9010-0311

Product information "Binder FD 720 drying and heating oven with forced air circulation, 741 l, 400 V, up to 300 °C, 9010-0311"

The Binder FD 720 drying and heating cabinet is the large-capacity model in the Avantgarde.Line FD series with forced convection, designed for applications requiring particularly rapid drying and sterilisation, even with large quantities of material. With a usable volume of 741 litres and a 400 V three-phase connection, the unit handles industrial drying and sterilisation tasks for which smaller FD models are insufficient.

Uniform temperature distribution despite large volume

APT.line technology ensures comparatively uniform heat distribution even within the 741-litre chamber. At 150 °C, the FD 720 achieves a spatial temperature deviation of 2.5 ± K and a temporal deviation of 0.6 ± K. The air change rate at 100 °C is 5 times per hour; after the door has been open for 30 seconds, the set temperature is restored within 6 minutes.

Operation and energy consumption in industrial use

The LCD controller manages the unit, including the electromechanically controlled exhaust air flap, which adjusts the air exchange to suit the respective drying or sterilisation process. With a sound pressure level of 43 dB(A), the FD 720 remains comparatively quiet despite its size. Energy consumption at 150 °C is 800 Wh/h, a figure that should be taken into account when calculating continuous operation or multi-shift use in industrial manufacturing.

Typical applications

  • Drying large quantities of laboratory glassware, components or sample material
  • Sterilisation processes in industrial manufacturing and quality assurance
  • Heat treatment of larger batches in time-critical processes
  • Complement to smaller FD models when sample volumes increase

If the volume of material to be dried or sterilised in a laboratory or production facility exceeds the capacity of smaller drying cabinets, the FD 720, with its 741-litre capacity, offers sufficient space to process several batches simultaneously rather than one after the other, thereby reducing the overall turnaround time.

Selection guide: choosing the right model from the FD series

With a capacity of 741 litres, the FD 720 is the large-capacity model at the top end of the FD series, significantly larger than the next smallest model, the FD 260, and the compact benchtop units FD 23 to FD 115. The capacity jump between the FD 260 and the FD 720, at around 480 litres, is the largest in the entire series. You can find the complete range of this series in the LT Laborhandel range of climate chambers and incubators.

ModelUseful volume, external dimensions (W x D x H), weight
FD 2320 l, 435 x 520 x 495 mm, 27 kg
FD 5660 l, 560 x 565 x 625 mm, 41 kg
FD 115116 l, 710 x 605 x 735 mm, 54 kg
FD 260259 l, 810 x 825 x 940 mm, 85 kg
FD 720741 l, 1,165 x 870 x 1,590 mm, 166 kg

The 400 V three-phase connection and the higher heating output are designed for businesses that wish to process several batches simultaneously rather than one after the other; those who have to make do with a standard domestic 230 V connection will find the smaller FD models to be the more suitable solution. Those who handle several batch sizes simultaneously in their operations often combine a large-capacity unit such as the FD 720 with one of the more compact tabletop models in the range.

Distinction: forced air circulation or natural convection

Even in the large-capacity format, Binder offers an alternative with natural convection: the Binder ED 720 drying and heating cabinet has an almost identical volume of 743 litres, but operates without a fan. For high-throughput industrial sterilisation and drying processes where short cycle times are essential, the FD 720 with forced convection remains the faster choice. Both large-capacity units share the same 400 V three-phase power connection and a comparable housing design; the only difference lies in the airflow within the chamber.
