Product information "Binder KB PRO 720 cooling incubator, extended temperature range minus 20 to 100 °C, 727 l, 9020-0436"
The Binder KB PRO 720 offers a usable volume of 727 litres with a temperature range of minus 20 °C to plus 100 °C. Whilst the KB series covers the standard incubation range of 0 °C to 70 °C, the KB PRO 720 is also suitable for applications requiring deep-freeze conditions or higher temperature profiles, offering a large volume for extensive sample series or multiple parallel test runs with different temperature profiles.
Compressor cooling with extended temperature range and R-290
The KB PRO 720 operates with an inverter-controlled refrigeration unit and the natural refrigerant R-290. At 37 °C, the spatial temperature deviation is ±0.2 K, the temporal deviation is ±0.1 K, and the maximum heat compensation is 1,000 W. Two internal and two external doors further organise the large interior space. The patented APT.line preheating chamber technology ensures homogeneous temperature distribution even when fully loaded. After the door has been open for 30 seconds, the set temperature of 37 °C is reached again in around 4 minutes; energy consumption is 315 Wh/h at 25 °C and 330 Wh/h at 37 °C.
Typical applications
The extended temperature range makes the KB PRO 720 a versatile tool wherever conventional cooling incubation reaches its limits; with this unit size, this is particularly the case with high sample volumes. Typical applications:
- Microbiological incubation and cold stress tests with large batches of bacterial, yeast and fungal cultures
- Stability testing in pharmaceutical quality control across a wide temperature range
- Sensory and shelf-life tests in food analysis with high sample throughput, even under deep-freeze conditions
- Materials testing and research with defined temperature profiles from minus 20 °C to 100 °C
- Test laboratories with multiple parallel test runs and varying temperature requirements
Features and durability for everyday laboratory use
The interior of the KB PRO 720 is made entirely of stainless steel; the inner doors are made of metal oxide-coated safety glass and allow visual inspection of the samples without opening the outer doors. A door heater prevents condensation from forming. Two stainless steel grid shelves with telescopic rails are included as standard; the interior can be expanded to accommodate up to 16 grid shelves, each with a load capacity of 40 kg, with a maximum total load of 200 kg. A feed-through with an 80 x 45 mm opening and silicone plug allows external sensor or measurement cables to be fed in. To ensure process reliability, an independent Class 3.3 adjustable temperature monitor according to DIN 12880, featuring visual and audible alarms, is integrated; an internal data logger records the measured values and can be read out via USB and Ethernet. The APT-COM Basic Edition management software is included as standard, whilst a device self-test enables a comprehensive status analysis.

Plant light, ICH and CO2 modules for the KB PRO 720

Pictured (sister series KBF PRO with humidity control): KBF PRO 720 with ICH light module (left) and with LED plant light module (right). The modules are accessories.
The KB PRO 720 accepts three modules, the LED plant light module (8012-2439), the ICH light module (8012-2442, size 720) and the CO2 gassing module (8012-2140 for 0 to 1 vol.%, 8012-2138 for 0 to 20 vol.%). In LED operation, the PAR photon flux density is 1,080 µmol/m²/s at 25 cm, 740 µmol/m²/s at 50 cm and 560 µmol/m²/s at a distance of 75 cm, and the temperature range narrows to −10 °C to +60 °C. This series does not offer humidity control at all. With the ICH module, the chamber reaches 42 klx VIS illuminance and 51 W/m² UVA irradiance, a complete ICH Q1B test is finished in 33 hours, usable between 5 °C and 60 °C. The CO2 module does not change the temperature range, which remains at −20 °C to +100 °C. The grid shelves with U-rails for the LED strips carry item number 8012-2391.
The modules are accessories and not included with the chamber. You will find them with prices under "Matching modules" on this page; more on our Binder page.
