Product information "Brand Dispensette S Bottle-Top Dispenser, Fix, 1 ml, without recirculation valve, DE-M, 4600210"
Where recurring addition of the exact same small volume is required in the laboratory, an adjustable volume is not necessary, rather getting in the way. The Dispensette S Fix with 1 ml dispenses precisely this one volume, without a scale and without an Easy Calibration function. Anyone wishing to eliminate accidental adjustment, for example with changing personnel at the workstation, benefits from this reduced design. Like the other Dispensette S versions, the Fix is mounted directly on the reagent bottle and is part of the same standard series with a red colour code.
Fixed volume instead of adjustment wheel
Omitting a counter and adjustment mechanism reduces the number of moving parts in the dispensing path. This makes handling easier than with the digital version and is suitable for reagent addition in routine analysis without risk of adjustment, where changing the target volume does not occur anyway. Especially with changing personnel at a workstation, the fixed volume reduces the source of error of an accidentally incorrectly set scale, because this scale simply does not exist on the Fix version.
Without recirculation valve
Without a recirculation valve, the design is reduced to the essentials. For a fixed-volume instrument that always dispenses the same quantity anyway, this simpler design is completely sufficient in many routines.
Mounting and handling
The Dispensette S Fix is screwed onto the reservoir bottle using the supplied bottle adapter, and the telescopic filling tube can be cut to the appropriate length. Before first use, the system is primed several times and discharged into a waste container until no air bubbles are visible. The mounting tool included in the scope of delivery is used for valve replacement.
Media compatibility
The red standard version tolerates a wide spectrum of reagents: concentrated acids such as phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid, concentrated alkalis, saline solutions, and numerous organic solvents. Excluded are hydrofluoric acid as well as hydrochloric acid above 20 percent, nitric acid above 30 percent, THF, trifluoroacetic acid, carbon disulfide, and explosive liquids. Anyone who regularly dispenses concentrated hydrochloric or nitric acid should choose the yellow Dispensette S Organic; for hydrofluoric acid, Brand recommends the Dispensette S Trace Analysis with platinum-iridium valve spring.
Autoclavability
The entire instrument is autoclavable: sterilisation according to DIN EN 285: 121 °C, 2 bar, hold time at least 15 minutes, followed by around 2 hours cooling time in the closed instrument. For sterile workplaces, for instance in the preparation of microbiological culture media, the Dispensette S Fix can thus be resterilised before each batch.
Fix or Digital
If a workstation occasionally requires a different volume within the same range, a Dispensette S Digital with an adjustable counter or an Analog version with a scale on the cylinder is the more suitable choice. The Fix has advantages where a volume is permanently fixed: fewer operating steps, no risk of adjustment, and a slightly lower price compared to the Digital version of the same volume.
Accuracy without a scale
Accuracy and coefficient of variation are 0.5 %/5 µl and 0.1 %/1 µl respectively. There is no scale division on the Fix version, the fixed volume is factory-adjusted and is not set on the instrument. Anyone who nevertheless wishes to check the accuracy does so by gravimetric testing with an analytical balance, the procedure is independent of whether the volume is fixed or adjustable.
Frequently asked questions
Can the volume on the Fix be changed subsequently?
No, the volume is factory-adjusted and cannot be adjusted on the instrument, unlike the Digital or Analog versions of the same series.
Which bottle sizes fit the Dispensette S Fix?
According to the accessories table, the adapters GL 24-25, GL28/S 28, GL 32-33, GL 38, S 40 fit. The telescopic filling tube can be cut to the respective bottle height.
Why 1 ml as a fixed volume and not an adjustable range?
Because the work step for which this instrument is intended permanently requires the same volume, the fixed volume saves an operating step compared to an adjustable version.
Typical applications
- repetitive addition of the same small volume
- reagent addition in routine analysis without risk of adjustment
