Brand Dispensette S Bottle-Top Dispenser, Fix, 10 ml, with recirculation valve, DE-M, 4600241

Product information "Brand Dispensette S Bottle-Top Dispenser, Fix, 10 ml, with recirculation valve, DE-M, 4600241"

Where dispensing a fixed volume in large series is required in the laboratory, an adjustable volume is not necessary, rather in the way. The Dispensette S Fix with 10 ml dispenses precisely this one volume, without a scale and without an Easy-Calibration function. Those wishing to eliminate accidental adjustment, for example with changing personnel at the workstation, benefit from this streamlined design. Like the other Dispensette S versions, the Fix is mounted directly on the reagent bottle and is part of the same standard series with a red colour code.

Media compatibility

The red standard version tolerates a wide spectrum of reagents: concentrated acids such as phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid, concentrated alkalis, salt solutions, and numerous organic solvents. Excluded are hydrofluoric acid as well as hydrochloric acid above 20 percent, nitric acid above 30 percent, THF, trifluoroacetic acid, carbon disulfide, and explosive liquids. Anyone who regularly dispenses concentrated hydrochloric or nitric acid should choose the yellow Dispensette S Organic; for hydrofluoric acid, Brand recommends the Dispensette S Trace Analysis with platinum-iridium valve spring.

Autoclavability

The entire instrument is autoclavable: sterilisation according to DIN EN 285: 121 °C, 2 bar, holding time at least 15 minutes, followed by around 2 hours cooling time in the closed instrument. For sterile workstations, such as in the preparation of microbiological culture media, the Dispensette S Fix can thus be resterilised before each batch.

Fix or Digital

Those who switch between multiple volumes in daily operations are better served with Digital or Analog. The Fix is the right choice where the same volume is required unchanged over long periods, for example in standardised routine procedures with fixed specifications.

Accuracy without scale

Accuracy and coefficient of variation are 0.5 %/50 µl and 0.1 %/10 µl, respectively. There is no scale division on the Fix version; the fixed volume is factory-adjusted and is not set on the instrument. Those who nevertheless wish to check accuracy do so by gravimetric testing with an analytical balance; the procedure is independent of whether the volume is fixed or adjustable.

Fixed volume instead of adjustment wheel

Dispensing with a counter and adjustment mechanism reduces the number of moving parts in the dispensing path. This makes handling easier than with the Digital version and is suitable for media addition with a constant target value, where changing the target volume does not occur anyway. Particularly with changing personnel at a workstation, the fixed volume reduces the source of error of an inadvertently misadjusted scale, because this scale simply does not exist on the Fix version.

Recirculation function

With the recirculation valve, dispensed liquid can be guided back into the supply bottle without removing the instrument. On a fixed-volume instrument, this is particularly useful when checking accuracy by gravimetric testing, because the dispensing process can be repeated without filling a new vessel each time.

Mounting and handling

The instrument is mounted using the appropriate bottle adapter, and the telescopic filling tube is cut to the height of the supply bottle. Before the first dispensing, the system is primed by repeatedly drawing up and dispensing into a waste vessel. The mounting tool is included for subsequent valve replacement.

Frequently asked questions

Can the volume on the Fix be changed subsequently?
No, the volume is factory-adjusted and cannot be adjusted on the instrument, unlike with the Digital or Analog version of the same series.

Which bottle sizes fit the Dispensette S Fix?
According to the accessories table, the adapters GL 24-25, GL28/S 28, GL 32-33, GL 38, S 40 fit. The telescopic filling tube can be cut to the respective bottle height.

Why 10 ml as a fixed volume and not an adjustable range?
Because the operating step for which this instrument is intended permanently requires the same volume, the fixed volume saves an operating step compared to an adjustable version.

Typical applications

  • Dispensing a fixed volume in large series
  • Media addition with constant target value
