The Dispensette S Fix with 10 ml dispenses exactly this one volume, without a scale and without the Easy-Calibration function. Anyone who wants to rule out accidental adjustment, for example when staff change at a workstation, benefits from this reduced design. Like the other Dispensette S versions, the Fix is mounted directly on the reagent bottle and belongs to the same standard series with the red colour code.

Assembly and handling

The Dispensette S Fix is screwed onto the reservoir bottle using the supplied bottle adapter, and the telescopic filling tube can be shortened to the right length. Before first use, the system is primed several times and emptied into a waste vessel until no more air bubbles are visible. The mounting tool in the scope of delivery is needed for valve replacement.

Media suitability

Suitable for aggressive reagents, concentrated alkaline solutions and acids such as phosphoric acid or sulphuric acid, salt solutions and many organic solvents. Not suitable for hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid above 20 percent, nitric acid above 30 percent, THF, trifluoroacetic acid, carbon disulphide and explosive liquids. The yellow Dispensette S Organic is intended for concentrated hydrochloric and nitric acid, THF and trifluoroacetic acid; for hydrofluoric acid, Brand recommends the Dispensette S Trace Analysis with platinum-iridium valve spring.

Autoclavability

The complete device is autoclavable: steam sterilisation at 121 degrees Celsius and 2 bar overpressure for at least 15 minutes to DIN EN 285, followed by about 2 hours of cooling time in the closed autoclave. For sterile workplaces, for example when preparing microbiological culture media, the Dispensette S Fix can therefore be re-sterilised before every batch.

Fix or digital

For changing volumes within the same range, the digital version with counter or the analogue version with scale is the better choice. If, on the other hand, it is certain that only this one volume will ever be needed, the Fix saves operating steps and rules out accidental adjustment from the outset.

Accuracy without a scale

Accuracy and coefficient of variation are 0.5 %/50 µl and 0.1 %/10 µl respectively. The Fix version has no scale graduation; the fixed volume is adjusted at the factory and is not set on the device. Anyone who still wants to check the accuracy does so by back-weighing with an analytical balance; the procedure is the same whether the volume is fixed or adjustable.

Fixed volume instead of an adjustment wheel

Dispensing with no counter and no adjustment mechanism reduces the number of moving parts in the dispensing path. This makes handling simpler than with the digital version and suits adding media to a constant target value, where changing the target volume never happens anyway. Especially when staff change at a workstation, the fixed volume reduces the risk of an incorrectly set scale, because the Fix version simply has no scale.
