Product information "Brand seripettor bottle-top dispenser, 0.2-2 ml, 4720120"
The seripettor 0.2-2 ml is a bottle-top dispenser for repeated dosing directly from the stock bottle, without the need for a pipette. The valve block with discharge tube is pre-assembled onto the GL45 thread; dosing is controlled by the stroke of the actuator.
Autoclavable except for two components
The valve block, filling tube, discharge tube and valves are autoclavable at 121 °C, 2 bar, for at least 15 minutes according to DIN EN 285, following removal of the actuator and dosing unit. The actuator unit and dosing unit themselves are not autoclavable. For sterile batch processing, this means that the part of the dispenser in contact with the medium can be steam-sterilised without having to replace the entire device.
Suitable for aqueous and mildly corrosive solutions
Suitable for aqueous solutions such as buffer solutions, detergents, anti-foaming agents, culture media, vitamin solutions and hydrogen peroxide; for agar culture media up to 60 °C; for weakly concentrated or diluted non-oxidising acids and alkalis such as caustic soda, potassium hydroxide or ammonia, as well as for polar solvents such as ethanol, methanol and acetylacetone. Hydrofluoric acid is not suitable.
Error limits for the 0.2-2 ml range
For the 0.2-2 ml range, Brand specifies an accuracy of 1.2 % / 24 µl and a coefficient of variation of 0.2 % / 4 µl, with a graduation of 0.04 ml. This is the smallest volume range in the seripettor series, designed for dispensing operations in the low millilitre range where a 10 ml or 25 ml range would be too coarse.
Typical applications
- Dispensing buffer or detergent solutions in small volumes
- Addition of small quantities of vitamin solutions or hydrogen peroxide
- Batch work at the laminar flow hood with an autoclavable valve block
- Routine microbiological work involving frequently recurring small volumes
Selection guide: Volumes and media
For dosing operations in the low millilitre range, such as the addition of vitamin solutions or hydrogen peroxide to culture media, the 0.2-2 ml range is the most precise option in the series. For larger volumes, 1-10 ml and 2.5-25 ml ranges are available. When selecting media, the same guidelines apply to all three standard ranges: caustic soda, potassium hydroxide and ammonia are suitable; hydrofluoric acid is excluded. Anyone who also needs to dispense concentrated hydrochloric acid or acetone requires the seripettor pro in the same volume range.
seripettor versus Dispensette S
Unlike a Dispensette S with an adjustable single volume, the seripettor is designed for repetitive dispensing from the same stock bottle, with a permanently fitted filling tube for a fixed workstation. For media outside the seripettor’s scope of application, such as organic solvents, a Dispensette S or S Organic from our range is the more suitable choice.

Application and maintenance
The valve block with discharge tube is pre-assembled on the thread and is screwed onto the stock bottle using one of the three PP bottle adaptors (GL 32, GL 38, S 40). Before the first dispensing operation and after each change of fluid, the dispenser must be vented, as with any piston dispenser, by repeatedly actuating the dispensing unit until no air bubbles are visible in the filling tube. The filling tube is a fixed length of 250 mm and is not telescopic; the device is therefore particularly suitable for use with a fixed bottle size at the workstation. Two dispensing units are included, so there is no need to reorder immediately in the event of a fault or when switching between two media. For sterile batch processing, the valve block, filling tube, discharge tube and valves can be autoclaved after removing the actuator and dosing unit; thereafter, simply vent the system again before the next batch.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the valve block autoclavable? Yes, the valve block, filling tube, discharge tube and valves can be autoclaved at 121 °C, 2 bar, for at least 15 minutes according to DIN EN 285, after the actuator and dosing unit have been removed.
- What is the seripettor 0.2-2 ml not suitable for? Hydrofluoric acid; this is expressly excluded according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Which bottle thread fits the seripettor? GL45 directly; GL 32 and S 40 are also compatible via a PP adapter.
- What distinguishes the standard seripettor from the seripettor pro? The Standard is designed for aqueous and mildly corrosive media, whilst the Pro is additionally designed for concentrated hydrochloric acid, acetone and UV-sensitive media.
