The seripettor pro 1-10 ml is the chemical-resistant version of the bottle-top dispenser, featuring materials that are suitable for use with media beyond the aqueous and mildly corrosive media handled by the standard seripettor. The valves and discharge tube are made from materials including platinum-iridium, borosilicate glass and ETFE.

Extended media compatibility thanks to different materials

In addition to the range of aqueous and mildly corrosive media handled by the standard seripettor, the seripettor pro is suitable for acids such as concentrated hydrochloric acid, for polar solvents such as acetone, and for UV-sensitive media. It is not suitable for concentrated or oxidising acids (with the exception of hydrochloric acid), hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen peroxide (which decomposes catalytically on platinum-iridium), non-polar and halogenated hydrocarbons, suspensions, explosive liquids and carbon disulphide.

UV-protected actuator unit

The PPO/PEI actuator unit with UV protection and the Hastelloy return spring distinguish the seripettor pro from the standard version with spring steel. When dispensing moderate volumes of light-sensitive reagents, this design prevents the actuator unit itself from becoming a weak point in the workflow.

Error limits for the 1-10 ml range

For the 1-10 ml range, Brand specifies an accuracy of 1.2 % / 120 µl and a coefficient of variation of 0.2 % / 20 µl, with a graduation of 0.2 ml. These values correspond to those of the standard seripettor in the same volume range; the change in materials does not affect dosing accuracy.

Selection guide: Volume and media

With a range of 1 to 10 ml, the seripettor pro covers the medium volume range for more aggressive media, falling between the fine 0.2-2 ml range and the larger 2.5-25 ml range. Concentrated hydrochloric acid, acetone and UV-sensitive media are equally suitable for all three pro ranges; hydrofluoric acid remains excluded. Those who only dispense aqueous and mildly corrosive media, such as caustic soda or ammonia, will find the standard seripettor sufficient within the same volume range.

seripettor pro versus Dispensette S

Due to its design, the seripettor pro remains a bottle-top dispenser with a telescopic filling tube; it is not a pipette and does not offer an adjustable single volume as with a Dispensette S. For media outside the pro’s suitability range, such as hydrofluoric acid, a Dispensette S with appropriate materials from our range is the alternative.

Use and maintenance

Unlike the standard seripettor, the filling tube on the seripettor pro is telescopic and can be adjusted from 125 to 240 mm, accommodating different bottle heights at the same workstation. The valve block with discharge tube is pre-assembled on the thread and is screwed onto the stock bottle using one of the three PP bottle adaptors (GL 32, GL 38, S 40). Before first use and whenever the medium is changed, the system must be vented by actuating the dosing unit several times until no air bubbles are visible in the filling tube; this is particularly important when switching between aqueous and more aggressive media. Two dosing units are included, so there is no need to reorder immediately when switching between two different media.
