Brand Titrette SH bottle-top burette, 25 ml, scale according to Soxhlet-Henkel, 4760451

Product information "Brand Titrette SH bottle-top burette, 25 ml, scale according to Soxhlet-Henkel, 4760451"

The Titrette SH is a special version of the digital bottle-top burette, featuring a display in degrees Soxhlet-Henkel rather than millilitres. This scale is commonly used in milk analysis, where the acidity is traditionally expressed in Soxhlet-Henkel units rather than converting the volume of standard solution used into millilitres.

Display directly in the familiar unit

Whereas a standard Titrette displays the volume consumed in millilitres and the conversion to degrees SH would have to be carried out manually, the Titrette SH displays the value directly in the target unit. This saves a calculation step and eliminates the potential for error that can arise in the process.

Error limits

Brand specifies an accuracy of 0.07 % (or 18 µl) and a coefficient of variation of 0.025 % (or 6 µl) for the Titrette SH, identical to the standard 25-ml version.

Typical applications

  • Determination of the acidity of milk according to the Soxhlet-Henkel method in milk analysis
  • Dairies and dairy laboratories with an established SH scale in their routine procedures
  • Businesses wishing to avoid the conversion step from ml to SH degrees in day-to-day operations

Selection guide: SH scale or millilitres

Those who traditionally record the acidity of milk in degrees Soxhlet-Henkel can avoid the need to convert from millilitres by using the Titrette SH. For all other titrations where the volume used is required in ml, the standard Titrettes in 10, 25 or 50 ml are a suitable choice, with an optional RS232 interface for electronic data transfer to a LIMS if required.

Titrette SH versus glass burette and Dispensette

A glass burette with an SH scale still requires reading at the meniscus, whereas the Titrette SH displays the value digitally. Compared with a Dispensette, the fundamental difference remains: the Dispensette repeatedly dispenses a fixed volume, whilst the Titrette SH continuously totals the volume used up to the end point of the titration, only directly in SH degrees rather than millilitres.

Use and maintenance

The Titrette is screwed directly onto the supply bottle of the standard solution using one of the three PP bottle adaptors supplied (GL 32, S 40, NS 29/32); the telescopic filling tube can be adjusted to bottle heights between 170 and 330 mm. Before first use and after each bottle change, the system must be vented, as with any piston burette, to ensure that no air bubbles in the cylinder affect the dosing accuracy. The recirculation tube allows any accidentally dispensed excess titrant to be returned to the bottle, rather than having to restart the titration. Two brown-tinted light-protection windows shield light-sensitive titrants without the need to cover the bottle completely. The counter is powered by two AAA/UM4/LR03 micro-batteries, which can be replaced without tools as soon as the display indicates a low battery voltage. A mains connection is not required; the device remains operational even at workstations without a socket.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does the scale on the Titrette SH indicate? It indicates the volume in degrees Soxhlet-Henkel rather than in millilitres, for direct use in milk analysis.
  • How accurate is the Titrette SH? Accuracy 0.07 % or 18 µl, coefficient of variation 0.025 % or 6 µl; according to the manufacturer’s specifications, identical to the 25-ml standard version.
  • Which bottle threading is compatible with the Titrette SH? GL45 directly; via a PP adapter, it is also compatible with GL 32, S 40 and NS 29/32.
  • Is the Titrette SH also available with an RS232 interface? We can clarify this on request; the standard versions in 10, 25 and 50 ml are available with this.
