DURAN
DURAN® Laboratory flask, clear, graduated, GL 45, without screw cap and pouring ring, 3,500 ml, #218016908
From freshly prepared buffer solutions and sterilised culture media to safely stored chemicals, the laboratory bottle is a frequently used container in the laboratory. The Duran Original laboratory bottle was introduced in 1972. It is manufactured from high-purity, clear borosilicate glass 3.3, a Type I neutral glass according to USP <660>, EP (3.2.1) and JP <7.01>, which is renowned for its high thermal stress resistance and excellent chemical resistance. Combined with its robust design, this results in a long service life. Typical applications Storage and handling of solutions, buffers, media and reagentsPreparation, mixing and transport of liquidsAutoclaving and sterilising media (version with cap)Stocking supplies in the fridge or storeroomSampling and sample transportUse in microbiology, cell culture, chemistry and quality assurance Material and resistance Borosilicate glass 3.3 is largely inert to water, acids, alkalis, saline solutions and organic substances, and exhibits low thermal expansion. This makes the bottle suitable for everyday use in laboratories and production, from the storage and preservation of media to their preparation, transport and sterilisation. Cap and drip-free pouring The standardised GL thread and the matching closure system ensure a particularly tight seal and clean, drip-free pouring. The screw-cap version is supplied with the familiar blue polypropylene cap and a drip-free pouring ring, which are suitable for use up to 140 °C. All components are fully autoclavable at 121 °C or 134 °C. Markings and labelling An easy-to-read, baked-on white scale allows the fill volume to be estimated, whilst a permanent labelling field enables the contents to be labelled. The baked-on, permanent print is particularly abrasion-resistant. The production batch can be traced via the permanent Retrace code on each bottle; the corresponding certificate is available for download at cert.dwk.com. Standards and compliance The bottles comply with the requirements of ISO 4796-1:2016 (Laboratory glassware, Bottles, Part 1: Narrow-neck bottles; does not apply to the 10-ml bottle). Borosilicate glass 3.3 is classified as Type I glass according to USP <660>, EP (3.2.1) and JP <7.01> and complies with ASTM E438, Type I, Class A. Versions Select the suitable size (10 ml to 25 l) and version above: With screw cap: includes a blue PP screw cap and a drip-free pouring ring. Without closure: the glass bottle only, without cap or pouring ring, ideal if suitable closures are already available or other closure solutions are used. Duran Beaker, Low Profile with Spout, 1,000 ml
Whether for quickly preparing a buffer solution, stirring on a magnetic stirrer or as a reliable collection vessel, the low, wide beaker is the workhorse on every laboratory bench. The cylindrical shape with straight sides and the wide opening make filling, stirring and cleaning easy, whilst the spout ensures clean, drip-free pouring. Typical applications Preparing solutions, buffers and dilutionsMixing and stirring on a magnetic stirrerHeating and evaporating on a hotplate or hobMeasuring liquids roughly and transferring them with minimal drippingCollecting and decanting filtratesSample preparation, as well as school and training Material and thermal properties Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, this beaker offers high chemical resistance and excellent thermal shock resistance. It is suitable for use on hotplates and for rapid temperature changes, and is autoclavable. Graduation The printed, fired-on white ceramic scale allows the volume to be estimated and is resistant to abrasion and chemicals. The 5 ml and 10 ml sizes do not have a scale. Complies with ISO 3819. Duran Beaker, Tall Design with Graduations, without Spout, 250 ml
Sometimes a smooth rim is the better choice, for example when the beaker is covered with a watch glass during evaporation or when the contents need to be protected from contamination. The tall, slender design without a spout saves space and reduces the surface area exposed to evaporation. Typical applications Evaporation under a watch glass coverStoring contents protected from dust and contaminationPreparing solutions where no pouring is requiredSpace-saving operation in confined spaces Material and thermal properties Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, this beaker offers high chemical resistance and excellent thermal shock resistance. It is suitable for use on hotplates and for rapid temperature changes, and is autoclavable. Duran Beaker, Tall Design with Graduations and Spout, 1,000 ml
Where prolonged heating or boiling is required, the tall, slender design really comes into its own: the smaller liquid surface area reduces evaporation, and the beaker saves space on narrow hotplates or in a bain-marie. The spout allows for neat pouring. Typical applications Prolonged heating and boiling with reduced evaporationSpace-saving use in a water bath or on compact heating blocksPrecipitation and crystallisation reactions; allowing sediment to settlePreparing solutions and decanting without spilling Material and thermal properties Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, this beaker offers high chemical resistance and excellent thermal shock resistance. It is suitable for use on hotplates and for rapid temperature changes, and is autoclavable. Markings The printed, fired-on white ceramic scale allows the volume to be estimated and is resistant to abrasion and chemicals. Complies with ISO 3819. DURAN narrow-neck Erlenmeyer flask, 50 ml, pack of 10, DIN ISO 1773, 212161707
A quick swirl and the solution is mixed, without anything spilling over: that is exactly what the Erlenmeyer flask is designed for. The Erlenmeyer flask from Duran is a classic piece of laboratory equipment: Its conical shape makes it easy to mix liquids by swirling, without the contents splashing out. Made from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, it offers excellent chemical resistance, virtually inert behaviour and high operating temperatures. Typical applications Preparing and mixing solutions by swirlingTitrations and volumetric analysesCultivation of microorganisms in shaking cultures (narrow-necked, with stopper)Heating and brief boiling of liquidsStorage with a stopper (narrow-necked) or easy filling and cleaning (wide-necked)Use in chemistry, microbiology, analysis and education Material and thermal properties Borosilicate glass 3.3 is largely resistant to water, acids, alkalis and most organic substances. The uniform wall thickness and low thermal expansion ensure high thermal shock resistance, the flask is therefore particularly suitable for applications involving high temperatures and rapid temperature changes. Narrow-neck or wide-neck? Select the appropriate neck shape above: Narrow-neck (to DIN ISO 1773): The narrow neck reduces evaporation and makes it easier to seal with a stopper, ideal for storage, titration and cultures. Wide-neck (to DIN EN ISO 24450): The wide opening makes it easier to fill, weigh in solids and clean. Graduation and Markings An easy-to-read, printed scale allows the fill volume to be estimated. The fired-on white ceramic print (scale and labelling field) is particularly resistant to abrasion and chemicals and withstands repeated autoclaving and rinsing. Standards Narrow-neck version in accordance with DIN ISO 1773, wide-neck version in accordance with DIN EN ISO 24450. Due to production constraints, some intermediate sizes are non-DIN/ISO sizes, but are technically equivalent.
