Not every hand has room for a thumb button when inserting a sampler – for example, when holding a heavy container lid at the same time. The liquid collector with a contact-activated opening triggers the release as soon as the sampler touches the bottom of the container, without the need for any separate operation on the handle. Two sizes are available, with collection volumes of 50 and 100 millilitres and immersion depths of 425 and 500 millimetres respectively, suitable for both shallower and deeper containers.

Opening by contact rather than thumb pressure

As soon as the tip of the sampler touches the bottom of the container, the collection opening opens automatically and fills with the liquid at that point. This makes handling straightforward when the bottom is easily accessible and no additional operation of the handle is required, for example when taking several samples in quick succession from similar containers. If, on the other hand, the opening is to be triggered at a specific depth rather than only when it reaches the bottom, the liquid collector with thumb-operated opening is the more practical choice.

Two sizes with different immersion depths

The smaller version holds 50 millilitres with an immersion depth of 425 millimetres and is suitable for shallower drums and canisters. The larger version holds 100 millilitres and has an immersion depth of 500 millimetres, for deeper containers or larger sample volumes. On both sizes, a spout on the collection container facilitates decanting into sample bottles; the handle is 349 millimetres long on both sizes, allowing for a consistent grip regardless of the size chosen and making it possible to switch between the two sizes during operation without needing to adjust.

Material suitable for low-viscosity to viscous media

The sampler is manufactured entirely from V4A stainless steel (1.4404, AISI 316L) and is designed for low-viscosity to viscous media. The material is sufficiently corrosion-resistant for frequent contact with various liquids and can be thoroughly cleaned between samples without damaging the surface or the mechanics of the opening. For thicker, sticky liquids where an automatic bottom-contact mechanism does not trigger reliably, a sampler such as the ViscoSampler PTFE/FEP is more suitable.

Use with recurring samples

Where the same type of container is sampled regularly – for example, in a filling plant with similar drums – the automatic release mechanism saves one step per sample compared with manual operation. Over many repetitions throughout the day, this adds up to a significant time saving, particularly when several batches need to be released one after the other during ongoing operations.
