Taking a liquid sample from a tank or container is not always easy with just one hand, particularly when you also have to hold a lid or railing. The liquid sampler with thumb-operated opening can be operated with one hand whilst being immersed and filled; the thumb opens and closes the sampling opening directly on the handle. Two sizes, with collection volumes of 50 and 100 millilitres and immersion depths of 380 and 450 millimetres respectively, cover shallow to medium-sized containers, ranging from smaller canisters to medium-height drums.
One-handed operation via the thumb-operated opening
The opening on the collection container is controlled by a thumb button at the end of the handle. This allows the sampler to be immersed, opened at the desired depth, filled and resealed without needing the other hand for a separate mechanism. This is useful when, for example, a valve needs to be operated or a ladder held onto at the same time whilst working on a piece of plant. If, instead, the opening is triggered by placing the sampler on the base of the container, the identically constructed liquid collector with a push-to-open mechanism is a better fit.
Two sizes for different containers
The smaller version holds 50 millilitres at a submersion depth of 380 millimetres and is suitable for shallower containers or smaller sample volumes, such as when taking frequent spot samples from smaller canisters. The larger version holds 100 millilitres and has an immersion depth of 450 millimetres, making it suitable for deeper containers or when a larger sample volume is required. A spout on the collection container facilitates the subsequent transfer into sample bottles for both sizes, without spilling liquid or soiling labels on the workbench.
Material suitable for low-viscosity to viscous media
The sampler is manufactured entirely from V4A stainless steel (1.4404, AISI 316L) and is designed for low-viscosity to viscous media. The material can also withstand frequent cleaning between different samples without the surface or function of the opening being compromised. For thicker, paste-like substances where an open collection port is insufficient, standalone products such as the ViscoSampler are the more suitable choice.
Use on tanks and open vessels
When taking a sample from a tank through a narrow access hatch or from a platform, every free hand often counts. The thumb-operated opening mechanism allows the sampler to be guided with the same hand used for immersion, whilst the other hand remains on the handrail or the container hatch. Particularly at elevated work stations with fall protection, this one-handed operation offers a practical advantage over samplers that require two hands to open and close.
