Product information "Bürkle MicroSampler sampler, V4A stainless steel, 2.0 to 10 ml, 850 mm penetration depth, 5307-2085"
For retention samples, which typically comprise between 2 and 10 millilitres of powder, for example during routine incoming goods inspections of larger batches, the small design of the MicroSampler, with an external diameter of 12 millimetres, is often too small. This version, with an external diameter of 25 millimetres, reliably extracts the same quantity even from slightly coarser or less free-flowing powder, without the need to pierce the same batch multiple times.
Larger diameter for a greater sample volume per draw
The 25-millimetre external diameter gives the powder more space as it enters the collection chamber than the smaller 12-millimetre version. This makes sampling more robust when dealing with powders that do not flow freely, although it does take up slightly more space at the sampling opening. Consequently, this size cannot be used in all cases where bottle necks or test openings are very narrow. If the container opening is only large enough for a slimmer tube, the MicroSampler variant for 0.2 to 1.0 millilitres with an external diameter of 12 millimetres is the alternative.
Order replaceable tip separately
As with the smaller size, the tip is replaceable and, according to Bürkle’s labelling, is to be ordered separately; it is not included with the base unit. This is worthwhile in the event of frequent changes of material or due to wear and tear, but should be taken into account when placing the initial order to ensure that the sampler is not left without a replacement part when it is first cleaned.
Material and sterilisability
Base tube made of V4A (1.4404) stainless steel, spring made of 1.4310 (AISI 301) stainless steel, handle parts made of polyamide; autoclavable according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Bürkle designates the material as suitable for foodstuffs. The combination of materials thus corresponds to the smaller MicroSampler size.
Three penetration depths ranging from 550 to 1,200 millimetres
This size is also available in three lengths: 550, 850 and 1,200 millimetres penetration depth. The choice depends on the depth of the container and the specific area from which the sample is to be taken, for example from the surface of a sack or from the centre of a tall drum. In the case of horizontal or particularly wide containers, the reach to the desired sampling point is also a determining factor in selecting the appropriate length.
Incoming goods with larger batches
When routinely testing larger incoming goods batches, such as sacks of raw materials or drums on an industrial scale, many testing regulations require a retention volume of several millilitres to allow for a second analysis if necessary. With a sampling volume of 2.0 to 10 millilitres, this size covers precisely this range without the need for multiple draws. With high sample throughput, this saves a considerable amount of time compared to multiple draws using a smaller sampler.
Combining MicroSamplers in both sizes
Those who take both very small and medium-sized powder samples can combine the 25-millimetre version with the smaller MicroSampler variant for 0.2 to 1.0 millilitres. This means that a suitable tool is available for most sample volumes encountered in incoming goods inspection, without a single size having to compromise between being too small and too coarse.
Typical applications
- Retention samples of between 2 and 10 millilitres in incoming goods inspection
- Sampling from powders and granulates with moderate flowability
- Quality control in pharmaceutical, fine chemical and food production
- Routine batch testing with medium sample volumes

Scope of delivery
- MicroSampler powder sampler at the selected penetration depth
The tip is not included in the scope of delivery. According to Bürkle’s labelling, it is ordered separately.
Service and procurement
The appropriate penetration depth for a particular container depends on its height and the desired sampling point. We order each of the three MicroSampler lengths individually and, if required, will also clarify the replacement tip or a combination with the smaller MicroSampler variant for 0.2 to 1.0 millilitres. For highly cohesive, poorly flowing powders, the Scratcher powder sampler is often the better choice. If you have any queries regarding the appropriate size, please contact us for assistance.
