Bürkle, V4A safety canister, screw cap and safety valve, 5L, #2601-3005

Product information "Bürkle, V4A safety canister, screw cap and safety valve, 5L, #2601-3005"

When transporting or storing large quantities of flammable liquids, a precision dispenser is often no longer sufficient; in such cases, a leak-proof, robust cap is of paramount importance. The stainless steel safety canister with a screw cap meets this requirement in three sizes ranging from 5 to 20 litres. Instead of a fine-control dispenser, the canister is fitted with a screw cap featuring a pressure relief valve, which maintains the internal pressure within a safe range during storage.

Screw cap instead of precision dispenser

Whilst a fine-dose dispenser is designed for small, repeated withdrawals, the screw cap opens up the full cross-section of the canister for the rapid filling and emptying of larger quantities. The G 1 1/2-inch external thread securely holds the cap in place, whilst the built-in pressure relief valve equalises the internal pressure during storage, ensuring that no excess pressure is suddenly released when the cap is opened.

Cleaning and reuse

Once emptied, the canister can be easily rinsed out via the wide opening of the screw cap, which would be more laborious with a fine-dosing cap alone. This is an advantage for businesses that repeatedly fill the same canister with different solvents, as residues from the previous filling can be removed more easily before the next batch is added.

Three sizes, two materials

The 5- and 10-litre versions are made from 1.4571 (V4A) stainless steel, whilst the 20-litre version is made from the slightly simpler 1.4301 (V2A), which is sufficient for this larger volume, designed primarily for transport and storage. All three sizes feature the same screw cap with a pressure relief valve; they differ in length, width, height and weight (see table below).

Designed for storage and transport

Anyone who regularly moves large quantities of solvent between the storeroom and the workplace fills the canister at the storeroom via the screw cap and transports it, sealed, to the point of use. The 5-litre version still fits comfortably in one hand; the 10-litre version is suitable for carrying with both hands or on a trolley; the 20-litre version is intended for stationary storage containers that are moved less frequently.

Screw cap or precision dispenser

A precision dispenser is suitable when small portions need to be dispensed repeatedly. With the safety canister fitted with a screw cap, on the other hand, the focus is on filling and emptying the container completely, for example when decanting from a bulk container or refilling a storage station. If the same container is also used for metered dispensing, a combination of a large canister for storage and a smaller jug with a precision dispenser for day-to-day work is often more practical than a single container for both tasks.

Typical areas of application

  • Filling, transport and storage of flammable liquids in large quantities
  • Storage of solvents in chemical stores
  • Decanting from bulk containers into smaller workplace vessels such as the safety can
  • Transport between storage and production areas in facilities handling flammable liquids

Multiple canisters in stock

Those who store different solvents in the same area often combine several canister sizes: the 5-litre version for substances used in small quantities, and the 10- or 20-litre versions for day-to-day requirements. A standardised screw cap across all three sizes simplifies handling, as staff do not need to adapt to different closure mechanisms. When lifting and carrying, the weight must be taken into account; a filled 20-litre stainless steel canister is significantly heavier than a comparable plastic container, simply due to the material itself.

Service and procurement

If you wish to dispense smaller quantities from the canister rather than emptying it completely, opt instead for the safety jug with precision dispenser for 1 to 5 litres or the safety canister with precision dispenser, 10 litres. For larger containers with a tap, the safety container with tap (10 to 25 litres) is available; for canisters with UN approval , the safety canister with UN approval (10 litres) is available. LT Laborhandel orders each of the three sizes individually and, if required, can also coordinate combinations with smaller workstation vessels from the same stainless steel range.
