The Elma Elmasonic Select 300 meets this need with a tank volume of 27.5 litres and four programs that can be saved. Five ultrasonic modes, ranging from Eco to Degas, adapt the cleaning process to different levels of soiling and materials, without the need for a new unit for every application. The Select series is designed for research and development laboratories, pharmaceutical and industrial analytical laboratories, as well as for workshops, metalworking, watchmakers and jewellers.Five modes for everyday laboratory useThe Select series offers five different operating modes: Eco, Sweep, Pulse, Dynamic and Degas. Eco stands for gentler cleaning of light soiling; Sweep distributes the acoustic field evenly across the entire tank and prevents standing waves; Pulse briefly increases peak power for stubborn residues. Degas degasses freshly prepared cleaning baths before the actual cleaning begins, as dissolved air in the medium weakens cavitation. The four programs that can be saved store pre-defined combinations of mode, temperature and time, so that recurring cleaning steps do not need to be reset each time.Tank size for batch cleaningWith a total volume of 27.5 litres and a recommended working volume of 22 litres, the tank, with internal dimensions of 475 x 270 x 195 mm, can accommodate several beakers or an entire batch of laboratory glassware at once. The matching modular cleaning basket 300 (item no. 1113072) holds the items to be cleaned above the tank floor, whilst a stainless steel lid 150/300 (item no. 1111933) is also available as an accessory. For temperature-sensitive cleaning media, a cooling coil (item no. 1037515) is also available for tank sizes 60 to 300. The G 3/8-inch drain connection makes it easier to change the cleaning medium between two batches without having to empty the tank by hand.Operation and safetyThe large illuminated display with membrane keys shows the current settings and confirms each input with an audible signal. For the Select series, Elma specifies a patented dry-run protection feature and a safety shut-off after 8 hours of continuous operation. The heating range is from 25 to 80 °C with a heating power of 1,200 W; the timer can be set digitally from 1 minute to 6 hours. The bath is made of stainless steel. The IP20 rating requires that the housing itself does not come into contact with splashing water.Selection within the Elma product rangesElma divides its ultrasonic range into three series offering varying levels of ease of use. The Easy series operates with an analogue rotary knob and fixed time settings, without programs and without a Sweep or Degas function; this is sufficient for simple cleaning tasks on smaller benchtop units. The P-series additionally switches between 37 and 80 kHz and is designed for analytical and medical applications with higher demands for precision cleaning. The Select 300 falls between the two series in terms of operation, featuring a digital display and program memory, but with a fixed frequency of 37 kHz. We also offer Bandelin SONOREX ultrasonic baths; for laboratories already equipped with this range of units, this remains an option.Cleaning cycle procedureIn practice, the cleaning medium is prepared and then degassed for a few minutes in degassing mode to ensure that subsequent cavitation is not inhibited by dissolved air. For the actual cleaning, depending on the degree of soiling, either ‘Sweep’ is used for an even effect throughout the entire tank, or ‘Pulse’ for more stubborn residues. Once the combination of mode, temperature and time has been set appropriately, it can be saved as one of the four programs and called up directly for the next similar batch. At the end of the working day, the medium is drained via the G 3/8-inch drain connection without having to empty the tank by hand. The Elma Elmasonic Easy 300H has 27.5 litres total volume, the heater delivers 1,200 W, and the ultrasound 300 W effective at 1,200 W peak. The internal dimensions of 475 x 270 x 195 mm match those of the Elmasonic Select 300, and the controls manage without a display and program memory, with rotary knobs, a start/stop button, a mode button and LED indicators. As items to be cleaned, Elma names industrial parts, filters and laboratory instruments.Tank and basket22.0 litres of working volume are recommended at a fill level of 165 mm. The modular cleaning basket 300 (item no. 1113072) carries up to 10.0 kg, and the distance between basket floor and liquid level is 135 mm. The Elma Elmasonic P300H extends the P-series’ dual-frequency technology to a tank volume of up to 27.5 litres, making it suitable for industrial precision cleaning and larger batches of samples. Like the entire P-series, the unit is designed for medical and analytical laboratories, as well as for intensive cleaning in industry, where larger quantities are processed per cleaning cycle and a smaller bath would need to be refilled too frequently.Two frequencies with higher powerSwitchable between 37 and 80 kHz, the unit delivers 380 watts of effective ultrasonic power at a peak power of 1,520 watts, significantly more than the smaller P 30H. Pulse, Sweep, Degas, power control, Pause and Autostart are available, as with the entire P series. A drain tap (G 3/8 inch) makes it easier to change the cleaning medium between batches; with a volume of 27.5 litres, this saves a considerable amount of time compared to manual draining.Operation and operating environmentTwo rotary switches set the ultrasonic cleaning duration and temperature, whilst a keypad with a digital display shows setpoint and actual values. According to the RFI declaration, the unit is classified as Class A and is intended for commercial use; radio interference may occur in residential areas.
