Product information "ESAB Sentinel A60 Automatic Welding Helmet, Viewing Area 118 x 71 mm, Protection Levels 5 to 13, 0700600860"
The ESAB Sentinel A60 is an automatic welding helmet suitable for a range of processes, from manual metal arc welding through TIG and MIG/MAG to plasma welding. It can also be used for grinding, as well as oxy-fuel and plasma cutting. A button on the outside of the helmet switches it to grinding mode. The viewing area measures 118 x 71 mm, and the Halo headband supports a helmet weighing 644 g.
Field of view and optical class
The anti-glare cassette (ADF) measures 132 x 121 mm; the usable viewing area is 118 x 71 mm. The optical class is 1/1/1/1. Features include OpTCS True Colour. The inner protective visor measures 121.5 x 74.5 mm.
Protection levels and switching behaviour
In the light state, the protection level is DIN 3. During welding, the dark level can be adjusted from 5 to 13 in increments of 0.5. Four arc sensors control the darkening; the switching time from light to dark is 1/25,000 s (0.04 ms). The helmet switches back to light after 0.1 to 0.9 s, which is digitally adjustable. UV and IR protection is provided continuously up to DIN 16. For TIG welding, the helmet also operates at low currents from 3 A. The operating instructions, which are included in the Scope of delivery, specify which shade level is suitable for which process and current.
Settings and power
Up to 9 settings can be saved. LED indicators on the helmet show the current status. Power is supplied by a solar cell, and the helmet also contains two replaceable CR2450 lithium cells. It operates at temperatures between -10 and +65 °C and can be stored at temperatures between -20 and +85 °C.
Comfort and fit
The helmet sits on a Halo headband and weighs 644 g. A Durag is included in the scope of delivery. Accessories include a spare headband, a neck pad and a front sweatband. Those who require corrective lenses can fit lenses ranging from +1.0 to +2.5 dpt. A safety helmet adapter is available for use with a safety helmet.
Visors and maintenance
The helmet is supplied with four clear outer visors and two inner visors. Both types of visor are spare parts; the outer visor is available in clear, amber and an HC version. The ADF cartridge and helmet shell are also available separately.
Typical applications
- Manual arc welding and plasma arc welding (PAW)
- TIG and MIG/MAG welding, low-current TIG from 3 A
- Grinding in the helmet’s grinding mode
- Oxy-fuel and plasma cutting
Standards and testing
The helmet bears the CE mark in accordance with EN 175, EN 379 and EN 166. The helmet is also certified to ISO 16321 with the +TIG supplement, ANSI Z87.1, CSA Z94.3 and AS/NZS 1338.1. A UKCA mark is available for the UK.
