For everyday laboratory use, where a reliable but not oversized water bath is needed, the IKA plastic bath IB 18 eco (MPN 4248200) is an obvious choice. With 18 litres of volume, size L and a maximum temperature of 100 degrees Celsius, it covers most standard aqueous applications, without having to invest more in purchase, space or water consumption than is actually needed. As one of the longest-established models of the eco series, it forms the reference size on which the other plastic baths of the series are based, for example in the footprint, which was adopted almost unchanged for the tall IB HF 24 eco as well.
Balanced size for everyday laboratory use
With internal dimensions of 490 x 286 x 150 millimetres and external dimensions of 584 x 338 x 155 millimetres, the IB 18 eco offers a footprint with room for several standard vessels at the same time, without being unnecessarily bulky. Compared with the large-volume IB R 52 eco with 52 litres or the tall IB HF 24 eco with greater bath depth, the IB 18 eco is the more compact, everyday-suitable version for applications without special requirements for depth or volume and finds a place on almost any laboratory work surface, without space having to be cleared specially.
Plastic instead of stainless steel where water as the bath medium is enough
The bath is made of robust plastic and is designed for temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius with water as the bath liquid. Compared with a stainless steel version such as the IB 9 pro or IB 12 pro, the plastic version saves noticeably on the purchase price, without any disadvantage for purely aqueous applications in the temperature range up to 100 degrees Celsius, as long as no oils or other bath media are needed. For the vast majority of routine laboratory applications, which manage with water as the bath medium anyway, this choice of material is therefore the more economically sensible decision. Only if it is foreseeable that oils or temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius will also be used in future is it worth going for the stainless steel version from the outset.
Bath vessel for the immersion circulator
Like all baths of the IB series, the IB 18 eco is supplied without its own heating and is intended for combination with an IKA immersion circulator, which is hung on the bath and takes care of heating and circulation. This modular system makes it possible to combine the same circulator head with baths of different sizes as required, or to replace an existing bath independently of the circulator, for example when the original bath shows signs of wear after years of use but the circulator itself still works perfectly. This separation of bath and circulator noticeably reduces follow-up costs in the event of service, as the complete system does not have to be replaced.
Placement in the IKA IB series
Within the eco series, the IB 18 eco marks the middle size between the compact IB R 9 eco with 9 litres and the larger models IB HF 24 eco and IB R 52 eco. Anyone who only temperature-controls individual small vessels is better served, in terms of space and cost, by the IB R 9 eco, while for larger series or deeper vessels the correspondingly specialised models IB R 52 eco and IB HF 24 eco are the better choice. For average everyday laboratory use with changing standard vessels, however, the IB 18 eco remains the most versatile option, as it is tied to a specific application neither by footprint nor by bath depth.

Fits
The ICC control (MPN 0004136600) is a compact immersion circulator for temperature control of liquids in open or semi-open bath vessels up to 150 °C. It has a TFT display, a temperature stability of ±0.01 K according to DIN 12876 and an integrated pressure/suction pump. The bath vessel is not included in the scope of delivery, and the circulator is clamped to an existing vessel.Mounting on the bath vesselThe circulator is attached to the bath vessel with a holding clip, and the clamping width of the universal clamp is 0 to 40 mm. The ICC 150 lite (MPN 0020105581) belongs to the lite series of IKA immersion circulators, which is designed for the essential basic functions. It controls the temperature of liquids from room temperature to 150 °C with 2000 W heating power, has a built-in pressure/suction pump and is approved for flammable liquids according to DIN 12876 class III. The housing is made of coated stainless steel.Overflow protection and safety circuitThe circulator detects an overflow of the bath, for example due to an unintentionally increased amount of oil, and safely switches off the heating. It also monitors for low level. The safety circuit is adjustable from 0 to 160 °C, and warnings are visual and audible. A PT1000 measures both the working and the safety temperature.Display and controlThe LED display shows working and safety temperature with a resolution of 0.1 K, and the set temperature can be set to an accuracy of 0.1 K. Not every application needs a complete bath package, sometimes a compact immersion circulator that can be clamped to an existing vessel is enough. The IKA ICC 100 lite (MPN 20105647) is designed for exactly this: a stand-alone, compact immersion circulator for temperature control of liquids up to 100 degrees Celsius, without its own bath in the scope of delivery. With a heating power of 2000 watts, a clamp mounting for wall thicknesses of 0 to 40 millimetres and a weight of only 4.2 kilograms, the device can be integrated into existing vessels for which no separate IKA bath is to be purchased. Heating power 2000 watts up to 100 degrees Celsius The ICC 100 lite covers a working temperature range from room temperature to 100 degrees Celsius and holds the temperature via PID control with a stability of ±0.05 kelvin to DIN 12876. The target temperature can be set with a resolution of 0.1 kelvin, and the LED display shows the current temperature with the same resolution. With external cooling, the operating temperature can be lowered to minus 25 degrees Celsius. Safety to DIN 12876 Class III The device is classified to DIN 12876 in Class III and marked FL, meaning it is approved for use with flammable liquids. Both the working and the safety temperature probe use PT1000 sensors, and an adjustable safety circuit from 0 to 110 degrees Celsius as well as visual and audible warning functions provide additional protection against over-temperature. Compact design for flexible integration With dimensions of 135 x 303 x 180 millimetres and a weight of 4.2 kilograms, the ICC 100 lite is one of the most compact devices in the ICC series. The housing is made of powder-coated stainless steel, and an integrated stand foot makes cleaning easier and protects important components from damage. The clamp mounting covers a range of 0 to 40 millimetres and can therefore be adapted to bath walls of different thickness. The minimum bath depth is 150 millimetres.
