Product information "IKA ICC control Immersion Circulator, TFT Display, up to 150 °C, 0004136600"
The ICC control (MPN 0004136600) is a compact immersion circulator for temperature control of liquids in open or semi-open bath vessels up to 150 °C. It has a TFT display, a temperature stability of ±0.01 K according to DIN 12876 and an integrated pressure/suction pump. The bath vessel is not included in the scope of delivery, and the circulator is clamped to an existing vessel.
Mounting on the bath vessel
The circulator is attached to the bath vessel with a holding clip, and the clamping width of the universal clamp is 0 to 40 mm. The vessel must be at least 150 mm deep. The circulator measures 145 x 340 x 200 mm and weighs 3.75 kg, and a carrying handle and an integrated stand are part of the housing. The permissible duty cycle is 100 %.
Control, display and programs
The circulator controls by PID, a PT 100 measures the working temperature and a PT1000 the safety temperature. The TFT display shows both values, and the display resolution is 0.01 K. The set temperature can be set to an accuracy of 0.1 K. There is a connection for an external PT 100 probe, and the display indicates operation with an external probe. The device can store 10 individual procedures with up to 10 steps each.
Pump and cooling
The pressure/suction pump is intended for internal and external applications and its output can be varied. It delivers up to 18 l/min at 0 bar back pressure, the maximum pump pressure is 0.3 bar, and on the suction side 0.2 bar. For temperature control below or near ambient temperature, a cooling coil is optionally provided, and with external cooling the minimum operating temperature is -20 °C.
Connection and environment
The circulator runs on 230 V at 50/60 Hz and draws 2100 W, of which 2000 W is heating power. It is protected to IP 21, and the permissible ambient temperature is 5 to 40 °C at no more than 80 % relative humidity. The device includes a calibration option.
Safety equipment
An adjustable safety circuit ranges from 0 to 160 °C. Visual and audible warnings, the over-temperature warning and protection against low and high level are built in. The circulator is classified as DIN 12876 class III and marked FL.
As a package with bath
IKA combines the ICC control with plastic and stainless steel baths to form ready-to-connect packages. The ICC control eco 8 and the ICC control eco 18 contain circulator, bath and bath bridge, and the ICC control eco 8 c also includes a cover, pump connection set, cooling coil and PT 100.30 probe. The plastic baths are intended for water up to 100 °C. The ICC basic circulator has an LED display instead of TFT and a temperature stability of ±0.02 K.

Matching accessories
The IKA IB 8 eco plastic bath represents a structurally stable and highly precise, materials-science-based system solution for the professional temperature control of sample media in clinical, chemical and biological laboratory environments. Specially developed as a perfectly matched system component for IKA immersion thermostats (such as the universal ICC series), this high-quality temperature-controlled vessel provides the ideal basis for safe and reproducible water bath applications. For precise thermodynamic processes in day-to-day laboratory work, structural durability and excellent thermal insulation are the primary criteria for ensuring constant temperature control throughout long-term test series in a way that is gentle on the material and reliable for the process. Excellence in materials science and visual process control The material design of the IB 8 eco is based on a high-quality, transparent polycarbonate (PC). This specialised plastic is characterised by outstanding impact resistance, mechanical resilience and excellent dimensional stability at temperatures of up to 100 degrees Celsius. The crystal-clear optical properties of the bath material offer the user a decisive advantage in day-to-day laboratory use: they allow continuous and unrestricted visual monitoring of the sample vessels (such as test tubes or Erlenmeyer flasks) within the bath at any stage of the temperature control process, without the thermal equilibrium having to be disrupted by opening a lid. Thermodynamic efficiency and ergonomic design From a thermodynamic perspective, the wall thicknesses and geometry of the bath have been optimised to minimise heat loss to the surroundings. This energy efficiency significantly reduces the load on the attached thermostat and helps to lower the overall carbon footprint of laboratory operations whilst minimising material consumption. To ensure safe fluid management and optimal ergonomic handling, the plastic bath features integrated, ergonomically shaped carrying handles on the front sides. These enable laboratory staff to move, transport or empty the bath in complete safety, even when it is filled with warm temperature-control medium. Seamless system integration and GLP compliance The bath’s structural design guarantees a perfect fit when installing the heating components. The interaction with the original IKA bath bridges ensures that the suspended thermostat is fixed in place absolutely wobble-free and securely. This reliably prevents uncontrolled vibrations or the heating unit from slipping during continuous operation. The easy-to-clean, non-porous surface of the polycarbonate also prevents the build-up of germs or algae residues, meaning that the IB 8 eco meets the highest standards for clean workplaces in accordance with stringent GLP guidelines. Individual requirements & accessories To complete your temperature control system, we recommend operating the IKA IB 8 eco with an original IKA immersion thermostat from the ICC eco or ICC control series. To effectively minimise water evaporation losses at operating temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius, we stock suitable polycarbonate bath lids and floating insulating balls. We also offer corrosion-free test tube holders and stainless steel inserts to ensure your sample vessels are arranged in an organised manner. Please make use of our technical procurement service to ensure your thermostat peripherals are correctly configured.
Not every laboratory has room for a large bath vessel, and not every application needs more than a small but capable volume. The IKA stainless steel bath IB 9 pro (MPN 4248500) is, at 9 litres, the most compact stainless steel bath in this range, yet despite its size S it is approved for working temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius, considerably more than the identical-design plastic version IB R 9 eco with the same nominal capacity, which only works up to 100 degrees Celsius and exclusively with water. Anyone who wants to stay flexible in the future without going straight to the largest model in the series will find in the IB 9 pro a good compromise between compactness and temperature reserve, which is also suitable for workstations with limited space where no compromises on temperature range are wanted all the same. Compact size S for space-saving use With internal dimensions of 292 x 230 x 150 millimetres and external dimensions of 377 x 374 x 195 millimetres, the IB 9 pro takes up little floor space and can easily be placed next to other equipment on a normal laboratory work surface. For applications with individual vessels or smaller sample quantities this is sufficient, without unnecessary bath liquid volume having to be heated and cooled down again, which has a positive effect on both the heating time and the energy consumption. Particularly with frequently changing test series at different target temperatures, the smaller volume also results in shorter waiting times until the desired temperature is reached. Stainless steel instead of plastic for the extended temperature range The decisive difference from the identical-design plastic version IB R 9 eco lies in the material and the associated temperature window: while the eco version is limited to 100 degrees Celsius and pure water as the bath medium, the stainless steel version of the IB 9 pro allows temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius and is therefore also suitable for oil baths or other high-temperature media. Anyone who also wants to work above 100 degrees Celsius in the future is on the safe side with the pro version and does not have to switch to a larger or different bath later when requirements change. For many laboratories, this future-proofing justifies the extra cost compared with the plastic version even at the time of the initial purchase. Bath drain even in the compact format Despite its compact size, the IB 9 pro also has a bath drain, which makes it easier to change the bath liquid. Particularly with smaller baths that change more frequently between different applications and bath media, this detail noticeably saves time in everyday laboratory work compared with a bath without a drain option. The drain valve also allows controlled, drip-free emptying, which, particularly with hot bath liquids, is a relevant safety advantage over pouring out manually. Even when changing daily between different batches, the drain noticeably reduces the cleaning effort compared with a bath that would have to be tipped out completely. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the pro series, the IB 9 pro is the smallest of the three stainless steel baths, complemented by the mid-sized IB 12 pro with 12 litres and the large-volume IB 20 pro with 20 litres. All three models share the same bath drain and the same maximum working temperature of 200 degrees Celsius, but differ clearly in footprint and capacity. For workstations with particularly limited space or for applications with only one or a few vessels, the IB 9 pro is the obvious choice within the stainless steel series, while the more spacious models IB 12 pro and IB 20 pro are better suited to larger sample series. Typical applications As a compact, space-saving high-temperature stainless steel bath, the IB 9 pro is suitable, among other things, for: Temperature control of individual vessels or smaller sample series in limited space Oil baths and other applications above 100 degrees Celsius for which the eco plastic baths are not suitable Calibration baths for thermometers in the medium to high temperature range Second bath at workstations where a larger bath is already in use Technical details Bath typeOpen stainless steel bath (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeS Volume9 l MaterialStainless steel Max. working temperature200 °C Bath drainYes Internal dimensions292 x 230 x 150 mm External dimensions377 x 374 x 195 mm Scope of delivery 1 x IKA stainless steel bath IB 9 pro (MPN 4248500) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB 9 pro requires an IKA immersion circulator for operation, which takes care of heating and circulation. Positioned between the compact IB 9 pro and the large-volume IB 20 pro, the IKA stainless steel bath IB 12 pro (MPN 4577500) is a size M bath with a volume of 12 litres. Like the other stainless steel baths of the pro series, it is approved for temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius and has a bath drain, which makes changing the bath liquid considerably easier. It therefore covers exactly the gap between compact single-vessel applications and large-volume multiple batches, without having to buy an oversized bath for medium-sized batches. For laboratory workstations with a limited budget where several vessels nevertheless occasionally need to be temperature-controlled at the same time, this is often the most economical choice within the stainless steel series. Size M stainless steel for the mid-range volume With internal dimensions of 317 x 292 x 150 millimetres and external dimensions of 461 x 354 x 195 millimetres, the IB 12 pro offers more space than the compact IB 9 pro, but takes up considerably less floor space than the large IB 20 pro. For many applications where neither a very small nor a particularly large bath is suitable, for example when temperature-controlling two to four medium-sized vessels at the same time, size M is a practical middle way that fits on most laboratory workstations without major changes. A bath of this size can also still be handled by a single person when moving it between different workstations, which is no longer readily possible with the larger models of the series. Up to 200 degrees Celsius thanks to the stainless steel version The stainless steel version allows working temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius and thus a considerably wider temperature window than the plastic baths of the eco series, which are limited to 100 degrees Celsius and pure water as the bath medium. The IB 12 pro is therefore also suitable for applications with oil baths or other high-temperature media where water as the bath liquid is no longer an option. Anyone who regularly switches between aqueous applications below 100 degrees and high-temperature applications is on the safe side from the outset with this stainless steel version, instead of having to switch to a second bath for the higher temperature range later. Bath drain for easy liquid change The integrated bath drain on the IB 12 pro makes it possible to drain the bath liquid in a controlled way, without having to lift or tip out the entire bath. This saves time when changing the bath medium regularly and reduces the risk of accidentally spilling hot liquid when pouring it out, a practical safety aspect particularly at the higher temperatures for which the bath is designed. With frequently changing applications, for example between water and oil baths, this drain option pays off several times a day in everyday laboratory work, as cleaning the bath after each change takes considerably less time than with a version without a drain. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the pro series, the IB 12 pro is the middle size between the compact IB 9 pro with 9 litres and the large-volume IB 20 pro with 20 litres. All three stainless steel baths share the same maximum working temperature of 200 degrees Celsius and the bath drain, but differ clearly in footprint and volume. Anyone who is unsure which size suits their own application is rarely fundamentally wrong with the IB 12 pro as the middle option, as it offers enough room both for individual larger vessels and for smaller series of two to three samples. Typical applications As a mid-sized, versatile stainless steel bath with high temperature resistance, the IB 12 pro is suitable, among other things, for: Temperature control of several medium-sized vessels at the same time in solubility or stability studies Oil baths for applications above the boiling point of water where plastic baths are not an option Calibration baths for thermometers and temperature sensors in the medium to high temperature range up to 200 degrees Celsius Laboratory workstations where the bath liquid is changed regularly between different liquids Additional bath at existing workstations with an immersion circulator already in place Technical details Bath typeOpen stainless steel bath (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeM Volume12 l MaterialStainless steel Max. working temperature200 °C Bath drainYes Internal dimensions317 x 292 x 150 mm External dimensions461 x 354 x 195 mm Net weight (dealer information)approx. 5.72 kg Scope of delivery 1 x IKA stainless steel bath IB 12 pro (MPN 4577500) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB 12 pro requires an IKA immersion circulator for operation, which takes care of heating and circulation. The IKA IB R 20 eco plastic bath is a structurally stable, high-capacity, materials-science-based system solution for the professional temperature control of larger sample volumes in clinical, chemical and biological laboratory environments. Specially developed as a perfectly matched system component for IKA immersion thermostats (such as the universal ICC or Bridge series), this high-quality temperature-controlled vessel, with a capacity of 20 litres, provides the ideal basis for safe and reproducible water bath applications on a larger scale. For precise thermodynamic processes in everyday laboratory work, structural durability and excellent thermal insulation are the primary criteria for ensuring constant temperature control throughout long-term test series in a way that is gentle on materials and reliable for the process. Material robustness and complete process visibility The material design of the IB R 20 eco is based on a high-quality, transparent polycarbonate (PC). This specialised plastic is characterised by outstanding impact strength, mechanical resilience and excellent dimensional stability at temperatures of up to 100 degrees Celsius. The crystal-clear optical properties of the bath material offer the user a decisive advantage in day-to-day laboratory use: they allow continuous and unrestricted visual monitoring of all sample vessels (such as test tubes, flasks or reactors) within the bath at any stage of the temperature control process, without the need to disrupt the thermal equilibrium by opening a lid. Generous capacity and optimised thermodynamics From a thermodynamic perspective, the wall thicknesses and geometry of the bath have been optimised to minimise heat loss to the surroundings, even with a large volume of 20 litres. Anyone who needs an open water bath in the laboratory for high temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius can hardly avoid a robust stainless steel version. The IKA stainless steel bath IB 20 pro (MPN 4248600) is exactly that: a bath vessel made of stainless steel with a capacity of 20 litres, which, in combination with an IKA immersion circulator of the IC or ICC series, becomes a full-fledged, temperature-controlled circulating bath. With size L and a bath drain, it is suitable for applications where several vessels at the same time or larger sample volumes have to be kept at a constant temperature over a longer period, without needing a separate small bath for each batch. Stainless steel for high temperatures and long service life The bath vessel is made entirely of stainless steel and is therefore approved for working temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius, considerably more than comparable plastic versions from the IKA eco series, which typically reach their limits at 80 to 100 degrees Celsius and only with water as the bath liquid. Stainless steel is also resistant to many oils, silicone fluids and other common bath media, which makes the IB 20 pro suitable for high-temperature applications where water as the bath liquid is no longer sufficient. The smooth, easy-to-clean surface also reduces the maintenance effort in everyday laboratory work, residues of bath liquids can be removed without elaborate special cleaners, and the material shows no corrosion even after years of use, as could occur with uncoated steel. 20 litres of volume for larger batches With a capacity of 20 litres and internal dimensions of 495 x 292 x 150 millimetres, the IB 20 pro offers enough room to temperature-control several beakers, flasks or test tubes at the same time, without the vessels getting in each other's way. The external dimensions of 641 x 354 x 195 millimetres show that the wall thickness was deliberately kept compact, so that despite its size L the bath still fits on a normal laboratory work surface. The integrated bath drain considerably simplifies changing the bath liquid and cleaning after use, as the bath does not have to be laboriously scooped out or tipped to empty it, a detail that is clearly noticeable in everyday work with a capacity of 20 litres. Open bath vessel for the immersion circulator The IB 20 pro is supplied as a stand-alone bath vessel without its own heating or circulation pump and is designed for combination with an IKA immersion circulator, which is hung on the bath and takes care of heating, circulation and temperature control. This modular principle makes it possible to combine an existing circulator with a larger or smaller bath, depending on how much volume is needed for the respective application, or to replace a defective bath vessel independently of the circulator head. With a volume of 20 litres, it is worth choosing a circulator with sufficient heating and circulation capacity, so that a stable temperature is maintained throughout the bath even with frequent vessel changes. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the IKA stainless steel baths of the pro series, the IB 20 pro is the largest model and complements the more compact versions IB 9 pro with 9 litres and IB 12 pro with 12 litres. All three stainless steel baths share the same maximum working temperature of 200 degrees Celsius and the bath drain, but differ clearly in footprint and volume. Anyone who regularly has to temperature-control larger sample quantities or more vessels at the same time is better served by the IB 20 pro than by the smaller sibling models, while for individual samples or cramped workstations the more compact versions are sufficient. As all three sizes fit the same type of circulator, an existing IKA immersion circulator can be flexibly moved between the baths of the series as requirements change, without having to buy a completely new system for each application. Typical applications As a large-volume stainless steel bath for high temperatures, the IB 20 pro is suitable, among other things, for: Temperature control of several beakers or flasks in parallel in solubility studies Calibration baths for thermometers and temperature sensors in the higher temperature range Viscosity measurements at constant, elevated temperature Oil baths and other high-temperature applications for which water as the bath medium is not sufficient Routine laboratories with a recurring need for a robust, large-volume circulating bath Technical details Bath typeOpen stainless steel bath (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeL Volume20 l MaterialStainless steel Max. working temperature200 °C Bath drainYes Internal dimensions495 x 292 x 150 mm External dimensions641 x 354 x 195 mm Net weight (dealer information)approx. 7.66 kg Scope of delivery 1 x IKA stainless steel bath IB 20 pro (MPN 4248600) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB 20 pro requires an IKA immersion circulator for operation, which takes care of heating and circulation. For simple aqueous applications on a small scale, it does not have to be stainless steel. The IKA plastic bath IB R 9 eco (MPN 20004382) offers, with 9 litres of volume, the same nominal capacity as the stainless steel bath IB 9 pro, but is designed as the economical plastic version of the eco series and is rated for temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius with water as the bath liquid. For laboratories that never work above 100 degrees Celsius in everyday use anyway or manage exclusively with water as the bath medium, the eco version is the noticeably more economical choice, without having to compromise on the basic dimensions. Particularly when equipping several workstations with the same small bath, the price difference compared with the stainless steel version becomes clearly noticeable across several units. Compact size S format With internal dimensions of 307 x 239 x 151 millimetres and external dimensions of 356 x 287 x 167 millimetres, the IB R 9 eco is one of the most compact baths in the IKA IB series and accordingly takes up little space on the work surface. Despite the small footprint, the rectangular shape offers enough room to place several smaller vessels next to each other, for example when several test tubes or small beakers have to be kept at the same target temperature in parallel. On a standard laboratory work surface, the bath can also easily be placed next to other equipment such as stirrers or balances, without having to reserve a separate workstation for it. Plastic for the standard aqueous range The plastic of the IB R 9 eco is approved for a maximum of 100 degrees Celsius and, according to the manufacturer, is intended exclusively for operation with water. For all applications where work is only done in the aqueous temperature range anyway, for example enzyme or stability tests close to body temperature, this is a low-cost alternative to the stainless steel version IB 9 pro, without functional disadvantages in this temperature window. It is important to stick consistently to the water requirement, as other bath liquids such as oils attack the plastic and can shorten the service life of the bath. Within the permissible temperature range up to 100 degrees Celsius with water as the bath medium, however, the material offers comparable reliability to the more expensive stainless steel baths of the pro series. Small bath for flexible use As a bath vessel only, without its own heating, the IB R 9 eco is also combined with an IKA immersion circulator, which takes care of heating and circulation. The compact size makes it a practical addition for workstations where a larger main bath is already in place and a second, smaller bath is needed for parallel tests or control runs, without having to buy a second complete thermostat with a bath of the original size. In this way, for example, a control sample can be run at an identical temperature next to the main batch without changing the existing set-up. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the eco series, the IB R 9 eco is the smallest model, clearly more compact than the IB 18 eco, IB HF 24 eco and IB R 52 eco. Anyone who needs the same form factor with higher temperature resistance up to 200 degrees Celsius will find the direct counterpart in the stainless steel version IB 9 pro with an identical nominal volume of 9 litres. For all applications that remain permanently in the aqueous range up to 100 degrees Celsius, the IB R 9 eco, on the other hand, offers the more economical alternative with almost identical handling, as the two models hardly differ in footprint and operation and only differ clearly in material and temperature window. Typical applications As a compact, economical and water-compatible entry-level bath, the IB R 9 eco is suitable, among other things, for: Simple water baths for sample preparation in the routine laboratory Incubation and warming of smaller sample quantities at a constant aqueous temperature Second or control bath next to a larger main bath Training and practical courses in which a low-cost, easy-to-use bath without high temperature requirements is sufficient Technical details Bath typeOpen plastic bath, rectangular (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeS Volume9 l MaterialPlastic (eco) Max. working temperature100 °C, water only Internal dimensions307 x 239 x 151 mm External dimensions356 x 287 x 167 mm Scope of delivery 1 x IKA plastic bath IB R 9 eco (MPN 20004382) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB R 9 eco requires an IKA immersion circulator for operation, which takes care of heating and circulation. For everyday laboratory use, where a reliable but not oversized water bath is needed, the IKA plastic bath IB 18 eco (MPN 4248200) is an obvious choice. With 18 litres of volume, size L and a maximum temperature of 100 degrees Celsius, it covers most standard aqueous applications, without having to invest more in purchase, space or water consumption than is actually needed. As one of the longest-established models of the eco series, it forms the reference size on which the other plastic baths of the series are based, for example in the footprint, which was adopted almost unchanged for the tall IB HF 24 eco as well. Balanced size for everyday laboratory use With internal dimensions of 490 x 286 x 150 millimetres and external dimensions of 584 x 338 x 155 millimetres, the IB 18 eco offers a footprint with room for several standard vessels at the same time, without being unnecessarily bulky. Compared with the large-volume IB R 52 eco with 52 litres or the tall IB HF 24 eco with greater bath depth, the IB 18 eco is the more compact, everyday-suitable version for applications without special requirements for depth or volume and finds a place on almost any laboratory work surface, without space having to be cleared specially. Plastic instead of stainless steel where water as the bath medium is enough The bath is made of robust plastic and is designed for temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius with water as the bath liquid. Compared with a stainless steel version such as the IB 9 pro or IB 12 pro, the plastic version saves noticeably on the purchase price, without any disadvantage for purely aqueous applications in the temperature range up to 100 degrees Celsius, as long as no oils or other bath media are needed. For the vast majority of routine laboratory applications, which manage with water as the bath medium anyway, this choice of material is therefore the more economically sensible decision. Only if it is foreseeable that oils or temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius will also be used in future is it worth going for the stainless steel version from the outset. Bath vessel for the immersion circulator Like all baths of the IB series, the IB 18 eco is supplied without its own heating and is intended for combination with an IKA immersion circulator, which is hung on the bath and takes care of heating and circulation. This modular system makes it possible to combine the same circulator head with baths of different sizes as required, or to replace an existing bath independently of the circulator, for example when the original bath shows signs of wear after years of use but the circulator itself still works perfectly. This separation of bath and circulator noticeably reduces follow-up costs in the event of service, as the complete system does not have to be replaced. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the eco series, the IB 18 eco marks the middle size between the compact IB R 9 eco with 9 litres and the larger models IB HF 24 eco and IB R 52 eco. Anyone who only temperature-controls individual small vessels is better served, in terms of space and cost, by the IB R 9 eco, while for larger series or deeper vessels the correspondingly specialised models IB R 52 eco and IB HF 24 eco are the better choice. For average everyday laboratory use with changing standard vessels, however, the IB 18 eco remains the most versatile option, as it is tied to a specific application neither by footprint nor by bath depth. Typical applications As a versatile, economical standard bath, the IB 18 eco is suitable, among other things, for: Water baths for sample preparation in the routine laboratory Warming and thawing samples at constant temperature Calibration and comparison measurements of several thermometers in the aqueous temperature range up to 100 degrees Celsius Practical courses and training in which an uncomplicated, robust bath without additional functions is required Additional bath at existing workstations where an IKA immersion circulator is already in use Technical details Bath typeOpen plastic bath (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeL Volume18 l MaterialPlastic (eco) Max. working temperature100 °C, water only Internal dimensions490 x 286 x 150 mm External dimensions584 x 338 x 155 mm Scope of delivery 1 x IKA plastic bath IB 18 eco (MPN 4248200) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB 18 eco requires an IKA immersion circulator for operation, which takes care of heating and circulation. Some laboratory vessels, such as tall graduated cylinders, long-necked round-bottom flasks or upright test tube racks, need more immersion depth than a shallow standard bath can offer. The IKA plastic bath IB HF 24 eco (MPN 20006884) is designed for exactly this case: a tall form with 24 litres of volume and a bath depth of 200 millimetres, considerably more than the identical-design standard bath IB 18 eco with a depth of only 150 millimetres at a similar footprint. The letters HF in the name stand for this tall design, a direct indication of the most important difference from the shallower models of the eco series. Instead of tilting a vessel or immersing it only partially, the additional depth makes it possible to achieve uniform temperature control over the entire fill height even with upright, tall containers. Tall form for deeply immersed vessels With internal dimensions of 490 x 286 x 200 millimetres, the IB HF 24 eco offers a bath depth 50 millimetres greater than the standard bath IB 18 eco at an almost identical footprint. This is particularly noticeable with vessels whose contents should lie as completely as possible below the bath surface, for example tall graduated cylinders or long-necked flasks, which would only be partially immersed in a shallower bath. The external dimensions are 584 x 338 x 205 millimetres, so that despite the additional height the bath can be used without significantly more space than the standard model. Anyone who already has experience with the IB 18 eco will therefore quickly find their way around the IB HF 24 eco, without having to rearrange the workstation. 24 litre plastic bath for the aqueous range Like the other baths of the eco series, the IB HF 24 eco is made of robust plastic, approved for a maximum of 100 degrees Celsius and intended exclusively for operation with water. With a capacity of 24 litres it lies between the more compact IB 18 eco with 18 litres and the large-volume IB R 52 eco with 52 litres, and is therefore suitable for applications where neither a very small nor a particularly large bath would be the right choice, but the additional immersion depth is needed. Combination with an immersion circulator The IB HF 24 eco is also supplied as a bath vessel only, without its own heating, and becomes a complete circulating bath in combination with an IKA immersion circulator. The tall form additionally makes it easier to hang the circulator head, as more free depth is available for the immersion length of the heating and circulation unit without it touching the bottom of the bath. Particularly with circulators with a longer immersion shaft, this is a practical advantage over the shallower baths of the series. As with all baths of the IB series, the circulator chosen ultimately determines how quickly the bath heats up and how stably the target temperature is maintained over the entire bath depth. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the eco series, the IB HF 24 eco is the only bath with an expressly tall design, while the IB 18 eco and IB R 52 eco rely on a bath depth of 150 and 300 millimetres respectively, each with a different volume. Anyone who values a large footprint above all, for example for many shallow vessels standing side by side, is better served by the IB 18 eco or the IB R 52 eco, while the IB HF 24 eco is specifically the right choice for tall, narrow vessels where immersion depth is more important than a wide footprint. Typical applications Thanks to the greater bath depth, the IB HF 24 eco is particularly suitable for: Temperature control of tall vessels such as graduated cylinders or long-necked round-bottom flasks with full immersion depth Water baths for density and viscosity determinations where the measuring vessel has to be immersed deeply Calibration baths for thermometers and sensors with a longer shaft Applications where a shallow standard bath such as the IB 18 eco does not offer sufficient immersion depth Technical details Bath typeOpen plastic bath, tall form (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeL Volume24 l MaterialPlastic (eco) Max. working temperature100 °C, water only Internal dimensions490 x 286 x 200 mm External dimensions584 x 338 x 205 mm Scope of delivery 1 x IKA plastic bath IB HF 24 eco (MPN 20006884) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB HF 24 eco requires an IKA immersion circulator for operation, which takes care of heating and circulation. With a capacity of 52 litres, the IKA plastic bath IB R 52 eco (MPN 20007044) is the largest bath vessel in this range and therefore offers plenty of room for larger volumes or several vessels at the same time. The rectangular size L plastic tank is designed for temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius with water as the bath liquid and, in combination with an IKA immersion circulator, is suitable for applications where the more compact baths of the eco series would simply be too small, for example when many vessels in parallel or unusually large sample containers have to be temperature-controlled. Instead of operating several smaller baths side by side, a single large bath such as the IB R 52 eco can often achieve the same throughput with less effort for set-up, cleaning and monitoring. 52 litres of volume for large batches With internal dimensions of 600 x 317 x 300 millimetres, the IB R 52 eco offers not only a large footprint but, at 300 millimetres, also a considerably greater bath depth than the more compact models of the series such as the IB 18 eco with only 150 millimetres. This makes it possible to immerse even taller vessels such as larger graduated cylinders, tall beakers or several round-bottom flasks completely, instead of temperature-controlling only the lower centimetres. The external dimensions are 648 x 365 x 316 millimetres, so that despite the large capacity the bath still fits on a regular laboratory work surface, albeit with noticeably more space required than the smaller sibling models. Anyone who regularly has to temperature-control larger series of sample vessels at the same time saves considerable floor space and set-up time with this footprint compared with several small individual baths. Plastic for the aqueous temperature range Like all baths of the eco series, the IB R 52 eco is intended for operation exclusively with water as the bath liquid and is approved up to a maximum of 100 degrees Celsius. For large-volume applications in the aqueous range, for example temperature-controlling several vessels at the same time in routine analyses, this is an economical alternative to a stainless steel version, whose higher temperature resistance would not be used anyway for most water-based applications. Particularly with a volume as large as 52 litres, the price difference between plastic and stainless steel is noticeably greater than with the smaller baths of the series. Modular design with external circulator The IB R 52 eco is also supplied as a stand-alone bath vessel without integrated heating and requires an IKA immersion circulator, which is hung on the bath and takes care of heating and circulation. With a volume of 52 litres, it is particularly worth choosing a more powerful circulator, so that a prompt heating time is achieved even at low starting temperatures or with frequent vessel changes and the temperature can be kept stable over the entire volume, without noticeable temperature differences arising at the edges of the large tank. Circulation that is too weakly dimensioned would be noticeably more apparent at this volume than with the smaller baths of the series. Placement in the IKA IB series Within the eco series, the IB R 52 eco is by far the largest bath and clearly exceeds even the tall IB HF 24 eco and the mid-sized IB 18 eco in volume. Anyone who regularly temperature-controls only individual vessels is better served by the more compact models of the series, as a bath that is too large needs an unnecessary amount of bath liquid and energy to heat up. For applications with many parallel batches or unusually large sample vessels, on the other hand, the IB R 52 eco is the only suitable choice within the eco series. Anyone who instead needs higher temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius or bath media other than water has to switch to a stainless steel version of the pro series, albeit without a comparably large-volume model in this range. Typical applications As a large-volume water bath, the IB R 52 eco is suitable, among other things, for: Simultaneous temperature control of several large vessels or flasks in routine investigations Complete immersion of taller vessels thanks to the greater bath depth of 300 mm Water baths for melting point determinations or density measurements on larger sample series Training laboratories with several groups working in parallel at a shared bath Technical details Bath typeOpen plastic bath, rectangular (accessory for immersion circulators) SizeL Volume52 l MaterialPlastic (eco) Max. working temperature100 °C, water only Internal dimensions600 x 317 x 300 mm External dimensions648 x 365 x 316 mm Scope of delivery 1 x IKA plastic bath IB R 52 eco (MPN 20007044) Individual requirements & procurement service The IB R 52 eco requires an IKA immersion circulator with sufficient heating and circulation capacity for the large bath volume.
