The IKA RH lite magnetic stirrer with heating is a cost-effective and efficient solution for the precise mixing, temperature control and homogenisation of liquids in biological, chemical and university laboratory environments. As a robust entry-level and routine instrument from IKA Laboratory Technology, this compact unit is designed for stirring tasks involving volumes of up to 15 litres of water. For everyday standard applications, reagent preparation or simple heating processes, the unit offers constant speed stability and reliable heat transfer for reproducible results.

Efficient mixing and gentle heating power

The stirrer is based on an energy-efficient, brushless EC motor with a speed range of 100 to 1,500 revolutions per minute. With a heating power of 600 watts, the instrument heats sample media quickly and directly up to a hotplate temperature of 310 °C (room temperature plus the instrument’s own heat generation). One litre of water achieves a heating rate of around 5.5 kelvin per minute. The magnetic coupling keeps the stir bar reliably on track even as the viscosity of the medium begins to change, whilst a gentle start-up mode also prevents the stir bar from becoming disengaged during the critical start-up phase.

Robust aluminium heating plate for everyday laboratory use

At the heart of the IKA RH lite is its round heating plate, 135 millimetres in diameter, made from an aluminium alloy with enhanced surface strength for a long service life. The self-heating of the base surface is limited to around 6 kelvin when stirring at maximum speed (based on a room temperature of 22 °C over one hour), which facilitates the mixing of temperature-sensitive samples. The housing is made from a durable plastic composite that protects the electronics from spills and allows for easy, residue-free cleaning of the unit’s surfaces.

Safety-oriented operation for everyday laboratory use

The RH lite features an adjustable temperature safety circuit in accordance with the laboratory equipment standard EN IEC 61010-2-010 for heated instruments, which can be set within a range of 50 to 360 °C. Two rotary/push buttons on the front panel allow independent setting of the target temperature, as well as separate start and stop functions for heating and stirring, even when wearing laboratory gloves. Thanks to its compact footprint, measuring 168 x 100 x 217 millimetres (width x height x depth), the magnetic stirrer can be integrated into any laboratory workstation or fume hood in a space-saving manner, even when several stirring stations are required simultaneously. Weighing just 2.1 kilograms, the unit can also be easily moved between different workstations.
