IKA RCT basic anodized magnetic stirrer with heating, anodized aluminium base, 0020133785
Manufacturer number: 0020133785

Promotional items from the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA’s recommended retail price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RCT basic anodized magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0020133785) expands the RCT series to include a variant with an anodized aluminium base. With a heating power of 800 watts, a maximum stirring capacity of up to 20 litres of water and a closed housing with degree of protection IP 54, the unit is suitable for laboratory applications requiring rapid, direct heat transfer without thick barrier layers, such as demanding chemical reactions, syntheses and thermal processes in industrial and academic laboratory settings. Maximum thermal conductivity thanks to the anodized base The key design feature of this model is the circular base with a diameter of 135 millimetres, made from anodized aluminium. Unlike traditional ceramic coatings, the anodized metal surface offers high, direct thermal conductivity. This reduces heating times in day-to-day laboratory work, as energy is transferred to the vessel with minimal loss. The anodized layer protects the underlying aluminium from mechanical abrasion, scratches and a wide range of solvents. This ensures a long service life and consistent performance in day-to-day routine use. Precise kinetics and temperature control The control electronics of the RCT basic anodized allow for stepless adjustment of the stirring speed from 50 to 1,500 revolutions per minute, set via a rotary-push control with a setting accuracy of 10 revolutions per minute. The LED display shows setpoint and actual values for speed and temperature at all times. For temperature-sensitive media, a connection socket is provided for external PT1000 series temperature sensors as well as for the ETS-D5 and ETS-D7 contact thermometers. With the PT1000 or ETS-D5, the temperature of the medium can be controlled with an accuracy of ±0.5 Kelvin; with the ETS-D7 or the PT wireless probe, this improves to ±0.2 Kelvin. The ETS-D7 or PT wireless can also be used to measure the pH value of the medium as an optional feature. Robust housing and safety concept The system architecture is housed in a robust, closed die-cast aluminium housing with degree of protection IP 54. This sealing reliably protects the motor and control boards from splashing water and aggressive vapours during continuous operation. An independently adjustable safety circuit (50 to 360 °C) monitors the maximum temperature of the heating plate and switches off the heating in the event of an unexpected overheating. In addition, a visual residual heat indicator warns staff of the risk of burns until the surface has cooled down again. For the first time, the RCT basic anodized features an integrated menu function with a timer: the freely programmable timer can be set to start either immediately or only once the target temperature has been reached, and emits an audible signal when the time has elapsed; it is possible to specify separately whether the heating and/or stirring should switch off afterwards. With dimensions of 160 x 100 x 200 millimetres (W x H x D) and a net weight of 2.3 kilograms, the unit remains compact enough to operate several units side by side in a fume hood. Typical applications The anodized base and the connection options for external temperature sensors make the RCT basic anodized a versatile stirrer for various laboratory applications in research and industrial quality control: Chemical syntheses and reactions with rapid, direct heat transfer via the anodized aluminium plate Homogenisation and heating of larger volumes of up to 20 litres of water Precise temperature control within the medium using a PT1000, ETS-D5, ETS-D7 or the PT wireless probe Routine processes in quality control and research where short heating times of up to 9 Kelvin per minute are required Continuous use in the laboratory thanks to IP 54 protection against splashing water and vapours Technical details Number of stirring points1 Max. stirring capacity (based on water)20 litres Maximum load25 kg Motor typeBrushless DC motor (EC), 9 W output power Speed range50 to 1,500 rpm Speed controlContinuously variable via rotary push-button control Setting accuracy for speed10 rpm Stir bar length20 to 80 mm Heating power800 W Heating plate temperatureRoom temperature to 310 °C Temperature setting resolution1 K (heating plate), 0.1 K (actual value display) Safety temperature range (adjustable)50 to 360 °C Heating rate (1 l H₂O, heating stage H1500)9 K/min Control accuracy with PT1000±0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D5±0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D7 or PT wireless±0.2 K Control accuracy at the centre of the heating plate without a vessel (at 100 °C)±5 K Self-heating of the hotplate (ambient temperature 22 °C, 1 hour of stirring)max. +12 K Material of the base plateAnodised aluminium (aluminium oxide coating) Dimensions of the base plateØ 135 mm Overall dimensions (W x H x D)160 x 100 x 200 mm Net weight2.3 kg Degree of protection according to DIN EN 60529IP 54 DisplayLED display for setpoint and actual values Connection for external temperature sensorPT1000 series, ETS-D5, ETS-D7, PT wireless Timer1 second to 5,999 minutes Digital interfacesRS232 and USB-C WPAN interfaceoptional via USB-WD dongle pH measurementOptional with ETS-D7 or PT wireless Power consumption820 W, standby 0.45 W Mains connection220 to 230 V, 50/60 Hz Scope of delivery 1 x IKA RCT basic anodized magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0020133785) 1 x mains cable 1 x Detailed operating instructions / safety guide Compatible accessories The following original accessories are available to expand the functionality of the RCT basic anodized: IKA PT1000.60 stainless steel temperature probe for direct control within the medium, combined with the H 16 V support rod and the H 44 boss head for securing to the stirrer Precisely fitting silicone protective cover (H 104) to protect the control panel from splashes IKA Dry attachments (DryZone) made of anodized aluminium for oil-free heating of round-bottom flasks PTFE-coated magnetic stir bars in cylindrical, oval or triangular shapes Individual requirements and procurement service The IKA manufacturer’s warranty applies to the RCT basic anodized: 2 years, extended to 10 years upon registration at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. Promotional items from the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The price shown with a line through it is IKA’s recommended retail price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RET basic anodized magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0020133787) combines a heating power of 800 watts with a compact housing measuring 160 x 200 x 100 millimetres and integrated Wi-Fi and LAN interfaces. This allows the unit to be used in a confined space within a fume hood or on a laboratory lift platform, whilst simultaneously integrating it into networked laboratory infrastructures. For B2B laboratory set-ups with high safety and documentation requirements, the RET basic anodized offers a combination of rapid heating, precise speed control and a comprehensive, standards-compliant safety concept for continuous daily use. Compact design with high power density and anodized protection The 135-millimetre base consists of a highly thermally conductive aluminium substrate and enables heating rates of up to 9 Kelvin per minute with uniform temperature distribution, adjustable across four heating speed settings. To protect against mechanical wear, scratches and aggressive chemical reagents, the surface is sealed with an anodized coating. Despite the high heating power of 800 watts, the housing remains ultra-compact at 160 x 200 x 100 millimetres. The stirrer therefore saves space in the fume hood, can be positioned on any standard laboratory lifting platform and is suitable for parallel experimental set-ups in confined spaces. Networked laboratory processes via Wi-Fi and LAN For integration into networked laboratory infrastructures and automated documentation processes, the RET basic anodized is equipped as standard with Wi-Fi and LAN interfaces, as well as the wired USB-C and RS232 interfaces. This connectivity allows the magnetic stirrer to be monitored centrally, controlled remotely or integrated into higher-level software solutions, including via the IKA app. The communication interface, which is based on ASCII-based Namur commands, also enables direct device-to-device communication. For example, the RET basic anodized can be linked to an IKA overhead stirrer: if the stirring speed of the viscous medium falls below a critical threshold, the RET basic anodized automatically deactivates the heating. This is an important prerequisite for reliable, unattended continuous operation. Comprehensive safety concept in accordance with EN IEC 61010-2-010 With a total of 18 integrated safety features, the RET basic anodized complies with the laboratory equipment standard EN IEC 61010-2-010 for heated laboratory equipment. System safety is further confirmed by a certificate from TÜV Süd in accordance with the NRTL standard (comparable to UL and CSA). In addition to a mechanically adjustable safety circuit (50 to 360 °C) via two separate plate sensors, the unit features Delta-T medium monitoring, sensor breakage and misalignment detection, as well as automatic heating shutdown in the event of a sudden drop in temperature, such as that caused by glass breakage. In the event of a safety shutdown, the ‘Always-Stir’ function takes effect: heating is stopped whilst stirring remains active to prevent delayed boiling or hotspots in the medium. An optical residual heat warning also protects against burns on surfaces exceeding 50 °C. Typical applications The combination of network connectivity, compact design and comprehensive safety features makes the RET basic anodized a versatile instrument for digitised laboratory environments: Networked laboratory processes requiring documentation, thanks to integrated Wi-Fi and LAN interfaces Unattended continuous operation through coupling with an IKA overhead stirrer via Namur commands Demanding syntheses with high safety requirements thanks to 18 safety features in accordance with EN IEC 61010-2-010 Mobile process monitoring via the IKA app Suitable for use in fume hoods and on laboratory lifting platforms thanks to its compact housing dimensions of 160 x 200 x 100 millimetres Technical details Number of stirring points1 Max. stirring capacity (based on water)20 litres Motor typeBrushless EC motor Speed range50 to 1,700 rpm Heating power800 W Heating plate temperatureRoom temperature to 340 °C Maximum heating rateup to 9 K/min Heating speed4 levels, individually adjustable Base diameter135 mm Base materialAluminium with anodized finish Network interfacesWi-Fi and LAN Data interfaces (wired)USB-C and RS232 Communication standardASCII-based Namur commands App integrationIKA APP Compliance with standardsEN IEC 61010-2-010, TÜV Süd NRTL-tested (UL/CSA standard) Number of safety features18 Adjustable safety circuit50 to 360 °C Safety function: mediumDelta-T monitoring Delayed boiling protectionAlways-Stir function Burn protectionVisual residual heat warning from a surface temperature of over 50 °C Display technology14-segment glass display Housing materialDie-cast aluminium housing, sealed Degree of protection according to DIN EN 60529IP 54 Dimensions (W x D x H)160 x 200 x 100 mm Country of originMade in Germany Scope of delivery1 x IKA RET basic anodized magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0020133787)1 x PT 1000.60 temperature sensor, stainless steel1 x H 801 x IKAFLON 30 magnetic stir bar1 x IKAFLON 40 magnetic stir bar1 x screwdriver1 x mains lead1 x operating instructions Compatible accessories The following original accessories are available to upgrade the RET basic anodized to a fully-fledged laboratory measuring station: IKA Pt.Wireless wireless temperature sensor or ETS-D7 contact thermometer for wireless temperature monitoring Chemically resistant IKA synthesis blocks and dry attachments made from anodized aluminium for oil-free heating of round-bottom flasks Precisely fitting silicone protective covers, as well as H 16 V support rods and H 44 boss heads for securing wired sensors Individual requirements and procurement service Our procurement service is available to assist with the digitalisation planning of your laboratory processes, as well as for further original accessories, spare parts or bespoke calibration. IKA Magnetrührer RCT basic mit Heizung, 0025008259, Generation 2026, Produktansicht
IKA RCT basic magnetic stirrer with heating, aluminium base plate, 0025008259
Manufacturer number: 0025008259

Promotional item from the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA's non-binding recommended retail price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RCT basic magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0025008259) is a magnetic stirrer with heating for stirring and heating in everyday laboratory work. The current generation covers the full range of typical laboratory tasks, from preparing small reagent quantities to stirring larger volumes, with a stirring capacity of up to 20 litres of water, a heating power of 800 watts and a speed range of 50 to 1,500 revolutions per minute. The 135 mm aluminium base plate gives even heat distribution, and the IP 54 degree of protection keeps the unit safe from splashing water during continuous use. Powerful drive and precise speed control The magnetic drive of the RCT basic covers a stepless speed range from 50 to 1,500 revolutions per minute, set via a rotary push button control with a setting accuracy of 10 rpm. Stir bars from 20 to 80 mm in length can be used, so the unit suits small beakers as well as larger vessels with a load of up to 25 kg. The drive is a brushless DC motor with 9 watts of output power and keeps a constant speed even at higher viscosities, without a noticeable change in the stirring pattern as the load increases. With the optional IKA HUB, automatic reverse rotation and intermittent operation can also be activated, for example to loosen deposits on the stir bar or to automate recurring stirring cycles. Aluminium base plate and glass control panel The base plate of the RCT basic is made from an aluminium alloy with a diameter of 135 mm and gives fast, even heat transfer during heating. The control panel with its glass surface is easy to clean even with frequent contact with chemicals. The housing is protected to IP 54 against splashing water and dust, a clear step up from the IP 42 rating of the previous generation, and can therefore also be used at workstations where splashing water may occur. Heating power and safety concept for continuous operation With a heating power of 800 watts, the RCT basic heats one litre of water by 9 kelvin per minute in heating stage H1500, noticeably faster than the 600 watts and 6.5 kelvin per minute of the previous generation, and reaches temperatures from room temperature up to 310 °C, adjustable in steps of 1 kelvin. The safety temperature range can be set independently between 50 and 360 °C with a tolerance of 5 °C and switches off the heater immediately on an unexpected overtemperature. If the unit is switched off while the heating plate is still above 50 °C, the display alternates between the warning "HOT" and the current plate temperature until the plate has cooled to a safe level. Combined with the supplied external PT1000 temperature sensor, control accuracy in the medium reaches ±0.5 kelvin; with an optional IKA ETS-D5 contact thermometer it stays at ±0.5 kelvin, and with the ETS-D7 or the wireless PT wireless sensor it improves to ±0.2 kelvin. The ETS-D7 or PT wireless sensor also allows an optional pH reading of the medium on the RCT basic. Digital display and interfaces for process documentation An LED display shows setpoint and actual values for speed and temperature in real time, so the process can be monitored at all times. Via the digital USB-C and RS232 interfaces, the RCT basic can be connected to a PC and documented, for example, with the labworldsoft laboratory software. For external temperature measurement, a socket is available for the PT1000 series as well as the ETS-D5 and ETS-D7 electronic contact thermometers, and an optional USB-WD dongle also connects the wireless PT wireless sensor via WPAN. A built-in timer covers times from 1 second to 5,999 minutes, and a sensor-in-medium detection reports once the temperature probe is actually immersed in the medium. When the RCT basic is controlled externally via IKA HUB or labworldsoft, the device controls can be locked with the safeSTOP function, and the display then shows "safeSTOP". Power supply is 220 to 230 volts at 50 or 60 hertz, with power consumption of 820 watts in operation and 0.45 watts in standby. Compact format for parallel use At 160 x 100 x 200 mm (width x height x depth) and a net weight of 2.3 kg, the RCT basic takes up little space on the bench or in the fume hood. Its compact format makes it easier to run several units in parallel, for example when quality control or research work needs several batches stirred and heated at the same time. Because the stirrer and the heater are combined in one unit, there is no need to set up separate stirring and heating devices, which saves bench space and reduces cabling at the workstation. Typical applications As a base unit for stirring and heating liquid media, the RCT basic is used across a wide range of laboratory settings, from routine analysis to synthesis: Preparing and heating buffers, nutrient solutions and reagents in the routine lab Chemical syntheses with defined temperature control, for example reflux boiling or dissolving solids Homogenising larger volumes of solution thanks to a stirring capacity of up to 20 litres of water, for example stock solutions in quality control Sample preparation with external temperature monitoring via PT1000, ETS-D5, ETS-D7 or PT wireless, for example during digestion or extraction Training and teaching in chemistry and pharmacy, where robust, easy-to-use instruments are needed Technical details Number of stirring positions1 Max. stirring volume per position (H2O)20 litres Maximum load25 kg Speed range50 to 1,500 rpm Speed adjustmentStepless via rotary push button Speed setting accuracy10 rpm Max. stir bar length20 to 80 mm Motor typeBrushless DC motor (EC), 9 W output Heating power800 W Heating temperature rangeRoom temperature to 310 °C Temperature setting resolution1 K (heating plate), 0.1 K (actual value display) Adjustable safety temperature range50 to 360 °C ± 5 °C Heating rate (1 l H2O, stage H1500)9 K/min Control accuracy with PT1000± 0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D5± 0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D7 or PT wireless± 0.2 K Control accuracy at heating plate centre without vessel (100 °C)± 5 K Self-heating of the base plate (RT 22 °C, 1 h stirring)max. + 12 K Base plate materialAluminium alloy Base plate dimensionsØ 135 mm Overall dimensions (W x H x D)160 x 100 x 200 mm Net weight2.3 kg Degree of protection per DIN EN 60529IP 54 DisplayLED display for setpoint and actual values Connection for external sensorPT1000 series, ETS-D5, ETS-D7, PT wireless Timer1 second to 5,999 minutes Digital interfacesRS232 and USB-C WPAN interfaceoptional via USB-WD dongle pH measurementoptional with ETS-D7 or PT wireless Safety systemsAdjustable safety circuit, HOT display warning, sensor-in-medium detection, safeSTOP function Power consumption820 W, standby 0.45 W Power supply220 to 230 V, 50/60 Hz Scope of delivery 1 x IKA RCT basic magnetic stirrer base unit (MPN 0025008259) 1 x IKA PT 1000.60 temperature sensor 1 x mains lead 1 x screwdriver for the safety circuit 1 set of IKAFLON 30 round and IKAFLON 40 round magnetic stir bars 1 x quick start guide 1 x warranty card Matching accessories The RCT basic has a socket for external PT1000 series temperature sensors as well as the ETS-D5 and ETS-D7 contact thermometers, so it can be upgraded in a targeted way: IKA ETS-D5 electronic contact thermometer with touchscreen (MPN 0025008371) for temperature control with an accuracy of ±0.5 kelvin in the medium Further original accessories such as the wireless PT wireless temperature sensor, the ETS-D7 or the USB-WD dongle for WPAN connection are available through our procurement service. Promotional items from the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA’s recommended retail price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RET basic magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0025008265) combines a heating power of 800 watts with a compact housing measuring 160 x 200 x 100 millimetres and integrated Wi-Fi and LAN interfaces. The aluminium base ensures rapid, direct heat transfer to the sample. For B2B laboratory environments with high safety and documentation requirements, the RET basic combines a fast heating rate, precise speed control and a comprehensive, standards-compliant safety concept for continuous daily use. Compact design with high power density and direct heat transfer The 135-millimetre heating surface is made of an aluminium alloy without any additional coating, thereby enabling particularly direct heat transfer with heating rates of up to 9 Kelvin per minute whilst maintaining uniform temperature distribution; this can be adjusted across four heating speed settings. Manufacturer number: 0020007108

Promotional items from the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA’s non-binding recommended retail price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RH lite magnetic stirrer with heating is a cost-effective and efficient solution for the precise mixing, temperature control and homogenisation of liquids in biological, chemical and university laboratory environments. As a robust entry-level and routine instrument from IKA Laboratory Technology, this compact unit is designed for stirring tasks involving volumes of up to 15 litres of water. For everyday standard applications, reagent preparation or simple heating processes, the unit offers constant speed stability and reliable heat transfer for reproducible results. Efficient mixing and gentle heating power The stirrer is based on an energy-efficient, brushless EC motor with a speed range of 100 to 1,500 revolutions per minute. With a heating power of 600 watts, the instrument heats sample media quickly and directly up to a hotplate temperature of 310 °C (room temperature plus the instrument’s own heat generation). One litre of water achieves a heating rate of around 5.5 kelvin per minute. The magnetic coupling keeps the stir bar reliably on track even as the viscosity of the medium begins to change, whilst a gentle start-up mode also prevents the stir bar from becoming disengaged during the critical start-up phase. Robust aluminium heating plate for everyday laboratory use At the heart of the IKA RH lite is its round heating plate, 135 millimetres in diameter, made from an aluminium alloy with enhanced surface strength for a long service life. The self-heating of the base surface is limited to around 6 kelvin when stirring at maximum speed (based on a room temperature of 22 °C over one hour), which facilitates the mixing of temperature-sensitive samples. The housing is made from a durable plastic composite that protects the electronics from spills and allows for easy, residue-free cleaning of the unit’s surfaces. Safety-oriented operation for everyday laboratory use The RH lite features an adjustable temperature safety circuit in accordance with the laboratory equipment standard EN IEC 61010-2-010 for heated instruments, which can be set within a range of 50 to 360 °C. Two rotary/push buttons on the front panel allow independent setting of the target temperature, as well as separate start and stop functions for heating and stirring, even when wearing laboratory gloves. IKA RET control-visc magnetic stirrer with heating and balance, 0005020000
IKA RET control-visc magnetic stirrer with heating and balance, 0005020000
Manufacturer number: 0005020000

Electromagnetic kinematics and rheological trend metrology The physical mixing of structurally viscous or Newtonian fluids requires the precise transfer of rotational energy through a closed system. The IKA RET control-visc generates a powerful, rotating alternating electromagnetic field that synchronises the magnetic stir bar in the reaction vessel at a frequency of 50 to 1,700 revolutions per minute. A special feature of this system is the measurement of the torque trend. Without having to insert a mechanical viscometer into the medium, the control electronics detect the phase shift between the rotating magnetic field and the asynchronous slip of the stir bar, which is induced by the fluid’s flow resistance. This real-time analysis of dynamic viscosity changes enables the monitoring of complex macromolecular polymerisation, cross-linking or crystallisation processes on the TFT display. Thermodynamic cascade control and heat transfer The rate of chemical reactions depends strongly on temperature. The RET control-visc transfers thermal energy via a solid heating plate made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel (grade 1.4301). With a heating power of 600 watts, the system raises the surface temperature to up to 340 °C. To eliminate the thermodynamic lag between the heating plate and the reaction medium, the system operates using a complex PID cascade control system. By integrating an external temperature sensor (connection for PT 100 or PT 1000, dual sensor) directly into the fluid, the control system measures the temperature in the medium. The PID system proactively reduces the heating power before the defined setpoint is reached. This reduces temperature overshoot and protects heat-sensitive samples from damage caused by overheating. Gravimetric integration In traditional workflows, the precise formulation of buffer solutions or chemical syntheses requires the physical separation of gravimetry and thermodynamics. The RET control-visc integrates high-precision strain gauges directly into the mechanical architecture of the chassis, enabling the entire work surface to function as a metrologically accurate balance (measuring range 10 to 5,000 g). This integration of balance, heater and stirrer in a single unit enables the gravimetric dosing of solids or solvents directly into the reaction vessel whilst under active stirring. Digital documentation of temperature, speed and viscosity values can be transferred via the RS-232 and USB interfaces to external Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Technical details Thermodynamics & Heating Technology Heating power: 600 W Heating temperature range: Room temperature + preset up to 340 °C Work surface material: Solid stainless steel (grade 1.4301) Heating rate control: Anticipatory PID cascade control (prevents overshoot) Temperature setting and display resolution: 0.1 K Metrology & Control Engineering Viscosity measurement: Relative torque trend detection (Torque Trend) Gravimetric function: Integrated balance (measuring range: 10 – 5,000 g) Balance resolution: 1 g Temperature sensor interface: PT 100 / PT 1000 (dual sensor) pH metrology: Integrated BNC interface for direct connection of a pH probe Display: TFT display Kinematics & Mechanics Speed range: 50 – 1,700 rpm Motor power output: 9 W Speed setting and display resolution: 10 rpm Maximum stirring volume (H₂O): 20 litres Maximum stir bar length: 80 mm Construction & dimensions Work surface dimensions: Ø 135 mm System dimensions (W x H x D): 160 x 85 x 270 mm Weight: 2.7 kg Safety & Environmental Conditions Adjustable safety circuit: 50 – 380 °C (hardware shut-off) Permissible ambient temperature range: 5 – 40 °C Permissible relative humidity: max. 80 % IP rating (according to DIN EN 60529): IP 42 (protected against dripping water) Electrical & Connectivity Voltage / Frequency: 220 – 240 V / 50/60 Hz Power consumption: max. 650 W Data interfaces: USB, RS 232 Scope of delivery 1 x IKA RET control-visc magnetic stirrer 1 x PT 100.70 temperature probe 1 x magnetic stir bar (IKA FLON) 1 x protective cover (H 104) 1 x USB cable and mains lead (Important note: Support rods and boss heads for mechanically securing the PT 100 probe in the reaction vessel are not included in the scope of delivery!) Individual requirements & accessories The RET control-visc is a precision thermodynamic instrument. In order to activate the PID cascade control, the supplied PT-100 probe must be positioned hydrodynamically correctly within the flow vortex. To achieve this, vertical locking using an IKA support rod (H 16 V) and boss head (H 44) is essential, as contact between the probe and the hot vessel wall (heat conduction through the glass) immediately impairs the control loop. For asymmetrical vessels, we offer specific magnetic stir bars (e.g. elliptical geometries) via our procurement service.

IKA RCT 5 digital magnetic stirrer with heating, 20 L, 850 W, 0020002704
Manufacturer number: 0020002704

Maximum heating power and capacity for demanding syntheses In chemical synthesis, process engineering product development and demanding sample preparation, the precise and rapid temperature control of large volumes of liquid is a process-critical factor. The IKA RCT 5 digital is designed precisely for these demanding laboratory tasks and redefines the performance class of compact magnetic stirrers. Equipped with a robust, maintenance-free motor drive, the unit effortlessly handles stirring volumes of up to 20 litres (based on water) with a maximum permissible load of an impressive 25 kg. However, the decisive technological leap forward compared with conventional models lies in its extreme heating power of 850 watts. This heating power significantly shortens heating times (7.5 K/min for 1 litre of H₂O) even with large-volume batches, which measurably increases efficiency and throughput in day-to-day laboratory work. Optimised heat transfer through ceramic-coated aluminium The square base (137 x 137 mm) of the RCT 5 digital cleverly bridges the gap between two worlds, tailored to the specific material requirements. The core of the hotplate consists of a solid aluminium alloy, which ensures unrivalled rapid and uniform heat distribution right to the edges. To protect this thermally excellent base from the rigours of everyday laboratory use, it is sealed with an extremely durable, white ceramic coating. This high-tech surface makes the hotplate significantly more resistant to scratches than conventional metal hotplates and offers excellent chemical resistance against spilled acids, alkalis or aggressive solvents. The pure white colour of the ceramic also makes it much easier to visually monitor colour changes during titrations or complex reactions. Intelligent stirring: viscosity measurement and programmable sequences The RCT 5 digital is far more than a simple stirrer; it is an analytical tool. The instrument features integrated viscosity trend measurement. By continuously monitoring the torque, the microprocessor detects changes in the sample’s viscosity in real time, an indispensable feature for the precise determination of the endpoint in polymerisation reactions. The smart multifunction menu also allows for the free programming of complex stirring sequences. Users can define automatic changes in the direction of rotation (interval operation) to mix stubborn samples or two-phase mixtures (emulsions) more homogeneously. The precise timer and countdown function allows reactions to run safely and autonomously overnight without manual supervision. Occupational safety and interfaces for documentation Occupational Health and Safety is a key focus of the RCT 5 digital. The entire user interface and the LCD display are housed behind a continuous, chemical-resistant and tempered real glass pane, which protects the electronics from dripping water falling at an angle (degree of protection IP 42). An adjustable, independent safety circuit (50 to 370 °C) provides redundant monitoring of the hotplate. The ‘Hot Top’ indicator clearly warns the user of the risk of burns whilst the hotplate is still emitting residual heat after being switched off. An intelligent “Error 5” fault detection system switches the heating off immediately if the PT 1000 temperature sensor (included in the scope of delivery) accidentally slips out of the medium. The unit offers RS 232 and USB interfaces for digital documentation of the process parameters via labworldsoft.
