IKA ROLLER 10 digital Roller Shaker, 10 Rollers, 5 to 80 rpm, Timer, 0004013000

Product information "IKA ROLLER 10 digital Roller Shaker, 10 Rollers, 5 to 80 rpm, Timer, 0004013000"

Sometimes a sample needs to be rolled briefly and quickly; at other times, for a long time and slowly. With the IKA ROLLER 10 digital, both settings are adjusted on the machine itself, after which it runs automatically. The speed can be selected from 5 to 80 rpm in increments of 1 rpm, whilst a countdown timer runs from 1 second to 99 hours and 59 minutes. Ten rollers, each 32 mm in diameter, move the vessels, whilst a 3-degree tilt angle ensures additional mixing.

Set speed and time digitally

The speed and time are displayed on a 7-segment LED. A counter shows the elapsed shaking time, whilst an error code display indicates faults. Operating modes include timer mode and continuous operation, with a permissible duty cycle of 100 %. Operation is via a membrane keypad. The time can be set from 1 second to 5,999 minutes. This clearly distinguishes the digital version from the ROLLER 10 basic, which operates at a fixed speed of 30 rpm and has no display.

Rollers, stroke and dimensions

The ten rollers are 327 mm long and removable; the working area measures 350 mm. The stroke at the end of the roller is 16 mm. The unit is 380 mm wide, 115 mm high and 545 mm deep, and weighs 6 kg. It has a power consumption of 24 W and operates at 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz. Permissible ambient temperatures range from 4 to 50 °C with up to 80 % relative humidity; the degree of protection is IP 21 in accordance with DIN EN 60529. According to IKA, the ROLLER 10 digital can also be operated inside an incubator.

Typical applications

The manufacturer’s description mentions blood samples, solid and liquid suspensions, and viscous substances, in all standard tubes and cylindrical bottles. This gives rise to the following applications:

  • Mixing of blood samples with a defined mixing time
  • Mixing solid and liquid suspensions
  • Slow mixing of viscous substances
  • Moving cylindrical bottles and standard tubes in parallel
  • Long-term mixing in an incubator at 4 to 50 °C

Position in the range

The ROLLER 10 basic, which also has ten rollers, and the smaller ROLLER 6 basic, which has six rollers, have no adjustable speed or timer and run at a fixed speed of 30 rpm. For those wishing to rotate vessels on a tiltable turntable, the Loopster digital offers the same speed range of 5 to 80 rpm.
