IKA Trayster digital Overhead Shaker, 5 to 80 rpm, 2 kg Load, 0004006000

The Trayster digital (MPN 0004006000) mixes samples in tubes by a vertical rotary motion over the head. The speed is set in steps of 1 rpm between 5 and 80 rpm, and a timer with countdown and a counter for the shaking time are part of the equipment. The overhead shaker is designed for biological samples, in particular blood samples, and for samples in tubes up to 50 ml. The Trayster digital is the version with adjustable speed, whereas the Trayster basic runs at a fixed speed of 20 rpm.

Rotary motion and speed

In overhead shaking, the vessels are moved over the head in a vertical rotary motion. In this way powdered and liquid samples in tubes are mixed. The speed can be set in steps of 1 rpm between 5 and 80 rpm. The speed appears on a 7-segment LED display.

Timer and continuous operation

The timer works as a countdown and can be set from 1 s to 5999 min, which corresponds to 99 h 59 min. Alternatively the device runs in continuous operation, and the counter then shows the shaking time so far. The duty cycle is specified as 100 %. The time is likewise shown on a 7-segment LED display, and operation is via a membrane keypad. If a fault occurs, an error code appears.

Use in an incubator

An ambient temperature of 4 to 50 °C at up to 80 % relative humidity is permissible, and the device is intended for use in incubators. The device measures 460 x 180 x 140 mm and weighs 3.282 kg. It is powered via a power supply unit for 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, and the device operates at 24 V= with a current consumption of 1000 mA. The protection class is IP 21.

Attachments and cleaning

The attachments for the sample vessels are easily removable, so that spilled samples can be removed quickly. A large selection of attachments is available for the device, and the permissible shaking weight of 2 kg applies including the attachment. Selection guide

Three specifications decide the choice: the size of the vessels, the speed and the total weight on the device. The device is designed for tubes up to 50 ml, and more than 2 kg including attachment is not permitted. If you only need a single, fixed rotation speed, the Trayster basic at 20 rpm is sufficient. If speed and time are to vary from batch to batch, the Trayster digital with timer and counter is the better choice.
