KNF LABOPORT SR 820 G, vacuum pump system with 2 separator bottles, 20 l/min, ATEX marking category 3, 325236

Product information "KNF LABOPORT SR 820 G, vacuum pump system with 2 separator bottles, 20 l/min, ATEX marking category 3, 325236"

For those who wish to collect liquids or condensate extracted in the laboratory directly at the system, rather than simply generating a vacuum, the KNF LABOPORT SR 820 G offers a complete vacuum pump system: a chemical-resistant diaphragm vacuum pump, a base plate and two separator bottles on the suction and discharge sides. With a flow rate of 20 l/min, it covers the moderate performance range of the SR series and is suitable for workstations where, in addition to a vacuum, the controlled collection of liquids and condensate is required.

Two separator bottles on the suction and discharge sides

The base plate supports two separator bottles (order number 047729), one on the suction side and one on the discharge side of the pump. Connection is via hose nipples with red GL screw caps (GL 14 or GL 18), a standard laboratory glass thread, so that the bottles can be changed easily. Two hose connectors (KNF designation Hose-BGR, order number 323044) are provided for connecting the bottles.

Chemical-resistant materials in the parts in contact with the medium

The pump head is made of TFM PTFE, the diaphragm is PTFE-coated, and the valves are made of FFPM. This combination of materials makes the system suitable for aggressive and corrosive media. The ultimate vacuum is a maximum of 6 mbar (abs.), and the operating pressure is a maximum of 0.1 bar (rel.).

Explosion protection for the internal parts in contact with the medium, Category 3

The SR 820 G bears the ATEX marking (Ex) II 3/-G Ex h IIB+H2 T3 Gc and is therefore designed for conveying potentially explosive atmospheres. This marking refers exclusively to the internal, media-contacting area of the system, not to the installation environment. This is a lower ATEX equipment category than that of the standard LABOPORT N 820 G (Category 2), a system-related difference due to the additional separator bottles.

Compact and mains-powered

Measuring 282 x 234 x 260 mm (W x H x D) and weighing 10.7 kg, the system is compact enough for direct use on a laboratory bench. It is powered directly from the mains (100 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz) and requires no battery; its power consumption is 60 W. A thermal switch and mains fuse provide protection against overload, and the degree of protection is IP30. Permissible media and ambient temperatures range from +5 to +40 °C.

Same size as N 820 G and SH 820 G

The size 820 pump head is also listed by the manufacturer under reference number 313452, the same identification number used for the identical drive unit of the LABOPORT N 820 G and the SH 820 G system variant. Spare parts kit 331051 is available for the pump itself, whilst spare parts kit 331054 is available for the complete system.

Installation and operation

The SR 820 G is designed for installation on a laboratory bench and is operated via the base plate with connected separator bottles. Before initial commissioning, the hose connections on the suction and discharge sides should be checked to ensure they are secure. The maximum operating pressure of 0.1 bar (rel.) and the ultimate vacuum of 6 mbar (abs.) apply to the complete system, not just to the pump alone.

Low-maintenance and oil-free

Like the entire LABOPORT range, the SR 820 G operates completely oil-free; there is no need for regular oil changes, and there is no risk of oil mist entering the gases being pumped or the laboratory air. The red GL screw cap on the separator bottles makes it easy to empty or replace the bottles whilst the laboratory is in operation, without having to improvise separate collection vessels. This is a practical advantage over open collection solutions, particularly for quality assurance and research, where chemical resistance and a contamination-free vacuum source are required.

Typical applications

As a vacuum pump system with an integrated collection facility, the SR 820 G covers the following applications:

  • Filtration
  • Degassing
  • Vacuum ovens
  • Liquid aspiration
  • Centrifugal concentration

N, SR or SH: choosing the right configuration

If a simple vacuum system without a collection vessel is sufficient, the more compact LABOPORT N 820 G is the simpler choice. If the priority is the recovery of solvents through condensation, the SH 820 G system variant, featuring a separator and high-performance condenser, is the more suitable option. For those requiring a higher flow rate, the identically constructed SR 840 G with a flow rate of 34 l/min is available within the same series.
