Product information "LAUDA Loop L 100 Thermoelectric Circulating Bath, +80 °C, L000027"

LAUDA Loop L 100: A revolution in compact temperature control

The LAUDA Loop L 100 (MPN L000027) marks a technological shift in the laboratory. Where loud, heavy compressor-based coolers once stood, this thermoelectric circulation thermostat now ensures precise temperatures. The unit is based on Peltier technology. This means it operates entirely without refrigerant or a compressor. For you as a user, this means: less noise, fewer vibrations, less maintenance and a drastic reduction in your environmental footprint. The Loop L 100 is specially designed for external temperature control applications requiring constant temperatures between +4 °C and +80 °C.

Peltier technology: cooling and heating using electricity

At the heart of the LAUDA Loop L 100 is the Peltier element. When an electrical voltage is applied, heat is transferred from one side to the other. This technology offers key advantages over conventional systems:

  1. Refrigerant-free: As no F-gases (fluorinated greenhouse gases) are used, the unit is not subject to strict environmental regulations or leak tests. It operates in a completely climate-friendly manner.
  2. Low vibration: As there is no compressor in operation, there is virtually no mechanical vibration. This makes the Loop L 100 the ideal choice for vibration-sensitive applications such as microscopy or optical measurement techniques.
  3. Compact design: The design is extremely space-saving. With a width of just 17.5 cm, the unit fits on any laboratory bench, no matter how full it is.
  4. Dual function: The system can both cool and heat. Simply switching the polarity is enough for the Loop to switch seamlessly between modes to maintain the target temperature precisely.

Main area of application: External applications

The LAUDA Loop L 100 is a circulation thermostat only. It does not have an open bath into which samples are immersed, but rather a small internal reservoir. Its strength lies in supplying external devices. Typical areas of application include:

  • Refractometers & polarimetres: Here, a constant temperature (often 20 °C or 25 °C) is crucial for accurate measurement results.
  • Electrophoresis: Dissipation of the heat generated during the process to protect the gels from overheating.
  • Micro-reactors: Temperature control of chemical syntheses on a millilitre scale.
  • Sample preparation: Maintaining a constant temperature for cuvette holders in spectroscopy.

Performance and efficiency

Despite its small size, the Loop L 100 delivers impressive performance figures. It offers a cooling capacity of up to 120 watts (at 20 °C), which is more than sufficient for most small laboratory instruments. The pump capacity, with a flow rate of 2.6 l/min and a pressure of 0.8 bar, is optimally designed to deliver fluid even through narrower tubing or heat exchangers. A key feature is its energy efficiency: the fan adjusts its speed according to the load. In partial-load operation, the unit is therefore whisper-quiet and consumes only a minimal amount of electricity. Thanks to the wide-range mains adaptor (100–240 V), the Loop L 100 can be used worldwide without the need to switch settings – ideal for research groups operating internationally.

Ease of use: simplicity is key

Operation of the LAUDA Loop L 100 is kept to the essentials. Just three buttons are needed to make all the settings.

  • OLED display: The display is bright, high-contrast and exceptionally easy to read, even from oblique angles. It shows the actual and setpoint values as well as the operating status.
  • Plug & Play: Quick-connect couplings (CPC connectors) on the inlet and outlet allow the hoses to be connected in a matter of seconds without spilling a drop. A hose set is often already prepared, so you can get started straight away.
  • Interface: An RS 232 interface is integrated as standard to integrate the device into automated laboratory environments or to document process data.

Maintenance and safety

Where there is no refrigerant, none can escape. And where there is no compressor oil, none needs to be changed. The Loop L 100 is virtually maintenance-free. Only the air filter on the front should be cleared of dust from time to time – this can be done without tools thanks to a magnetic mount. Safety is ensured by over-temperature protection and low-level protection. As the fill volume is very small (only approx. 0.3 litres), handling the temperature-control fluid is also safe and cost-effective.

With the LAUDA Loop L 100, you are choosing the future of laboratory temperature control: green, quiet, compact and precise.
