LAUDA Puridest PD 4 R Mono Distillation Apparatus, 4 L/h, 8-Litre Storage Tank, L003014

The LAUDA Puridest PD 4 R produces the same 4 litres of distillate per hour as the PD 4, but stores the water in a built-in 8-litre storage tank and dispenses it via a tap. The conductivity of the mono-distillate is 2.3 µS/cm at 25 °C, which is sufficiently pure for diluting reagents and sample preparations according to DAB regulations and international pharmacopoeia standards. As the unit monitors its own water level and automatically replenishes it, it continues to run unattended during lunch breaks or at weekends.

Fully automatic operation with an 8-litre storage tank

With a capacity of 8 litres, the storage tank holds twice the unit’s hourly output and can be mounted either on the wall or on a table. The dispensing tap has a continuous and a momentary setting, allowing both larger quantities to be dispensed and individual vessels to be filled in measured quantities. A solenoid valve controls the water supply, whilst an electronic level sensor triggers automatic refilling after each dispensing cycle. The condenser is housed in the storage tank and can be replaced if necessary.

Electronic contamination monitoring

An electronic monitoring system detects contamination in the distillation flask, stops the distillation process and displays a visual cleaning prompt before the water quality is compromised. A thermostatic low-water protection system provides additional protection against the heater running dry. Thanks to the automatic shut-off once the fill level is reached, the unit does not consume any unnecessary water.

Connected load specifications and cooling water requirements

Like the PD 4, the PD 4 R operates on 230-volt alternating current via the angled Schuko plug; the maximum heating output is 3 kilowatts. Cooling water consumption is 0.8 litres per minute; however, the connection requires a higher pressure differential of at least 3 bar and a maximum of 7 bar. The inlet hose has a 1/2-inch thread, whilst the drain has a 3/4-inch thread. When packed, the unit weighs 24.5 kilograms, with packaging dimensions of 0.69 x 0.42 x 0.59 metres. The unit itself measures 620 x 330 x 460 millimetres, excluding accessories.

Which Puridest model is right for you

For those who do not require a storage tank and instead draw water continuously from the condenser, the Puridest PD 4 offers a simpler benchtop version with the same hourly output. For a larger supply and higher throughput, the Puridest PD 8 R with a 16-litre storage tank and the Puridest PD 12 R with a 24-litre storage tank are available, both with a three-phase connection. Where contact with stainless steel needs to be avoided, the structurally identical Puridest PD 4 G is available, featuring glass contact parts.
